I doubt that the Drug addicted father, A, should be allowed to just show up and start being a father again, while taking some of B's money to settle his debts with his dealer. I think B had the right to say, "dad, you can't be here anymore. You can't just show up and decide to be my father again. I moved on. Sure, im illegally selling herbs that you indirectly buy, but its how i get by. I don't need you anymore and if anything, you are slowing me down. Im sorry dad. My roomate, C, doesn't really like you either. He's still kinda pissed from when you beat him up before. He's out on his yacht but he'll be here soon. I think you should go."

Neither Vietnam nor Iraq were the dumbest, not by a long shot. IIRC, the US came to help the French in the 1950's and the Vietnam War began. They don't go into too much detail in school, it's just we went there, people hated it, and we left.

And he's just asking for a bit of aid among his children and A gets the smallest part? Really? Maybe every history teacher/professor and Vietnam vet I've ever heard from has been wrong...

Westmoreland's entire strategy was attrition.

The War in Vietnam never had a purpose, and because the mission was so vague (to keep communism out), calling it a war of attrition would be false. Eisenhower merely wanted to maintain French control, Kennedy was only willing to help South Vietnam if South Vietnam was willing to help itself, Johnson escalated and declared war but never actually bombed strategic targets. It wasn't until Nixon that it began to resemble anything even remotely close to breaking them down, piece by piece. Prior to that it was one cluster fuck followed by another of incompetent commanders unsure of what to do, how to progress, etc.

A war of attrition would also imply that we were fighting the other side with all that we could. We actually limited our boys on the ground.

B was mad because he wanted to make his father proud in hopes that he would give him some more room to breathe. So B sent off on an impossible gang shooting where B took over C's impenetrable crack house conveniently located in Canada. You could imagine B's loathing at the news of A giving back the crack house to C. It made no sense to B. "Why would a druggie not want a crack house?" he asked himself. His distaste for his father grew and B openly expressed it. In the side lines C watched waiting for the proper moment, while sailing around on his unnecessarily large amount of yachts. C made his move, and began establishing small relations with B by offering to pay some of his rent. It was around this time that A came by and started taking the rent money B needed to survive independently from A. B was furious so he asked his father to "GTFO" and frequently attacked him with water balloons and nerf guns as A tried to walk up the stairs into B's weapons Cache. By the time A got there, B had already gave the weapons away to nearby illegals that promised to help him get the Boston Redsocks game on the TV. (way off topic, back on topic) A was being a dick and was changing the standards of living that B had grew up with, for the worse.
