The Toledo War. The state of Michigan and Ohio went to war over a strip of land that included Toledo.

To end the war Michigan was given the upper peninsula and Ohio got Toledo.

Michigan got the better part of the deal

Apparently, 1838, but looking at it further on wikipedia, it's poorly sourced and therefore rather dubious...

Maybe the fact that a bunch of Brit territories had far higher taxes, far less rights, no representation in Parliament, and still didn't whine and start rebelling about cups of tea? Yeah.

So because 13 colonies took a stand and the others didn't, that makes them stupid? What if all the other colonies were stupid and the ones that stood up weren't? It's the same logic and makes more sense with the evidence you brought up.

I don't find the war stupid, I just find the colonists whiney and saying it certainly isn't the most justifiable war to have happened. Also, no, it doesn't make more sense.

You could apply this to any civil war, though, surely? I must say, I find the Libyan war quite justified.

Lets compare:
If person A smacks Person B, its stupid for Person B to try to get away from Person A. But if Person A beats Person B over and over again and Person B does nothing, that's smarter?

Meh. The Iraq War, just trade guano for oil. Guano was pretty important back then AFAIK.

Yeah, but it cost fewer lives to the US, and we pretty definitively "won"(depending on how you define victory).

Was the Iraq War entirely retarded? Yes, of course, but the aftermath I think keeps it from really topping the bird shit war.

If A hasn't really helped B in years (over 200) and B has actually helped A in a recent problem, Should A feel like he deserves to feed off of B? Should A be allowed to abuse B beyond the norm?

Chile would differ (they did win and on the aftermath got the guano) but yeah, your point stands

B moved out a while ago and has been doing just fine on his/her own. I doubt that the Drug addicted father, A, should be allowed to just show up and start being a father again, while taking some of B's money to settle his debts with his dealer. I think B had the right to say, "dad, you can't be here anymore. You can't just show up and decide to be my father again. I moved on. Sure, im illegally selling herbs that you indirectly buy, but its how i get by. I don't need you anymore and if anything, you are slowing me down. Im sorry dad. My roomate, C, doesn't really like you either. He's still kinda pissed from when you beat him up before. He's out on his yacht but he'll be here soon. I think you should go."

We should write a book like this

The Stupidest War in History?

Postby Cill Charthaigh » Tue Dec 20, 2011 10:26 pm

Neither Vietnam nor Iraq were the dumbest, not by a long shot. IIRC, the US came to help the French in the 1950's and the Vietnam War began. They don't go into too much detail in school, it's just we went there, people hated it, and we left.

Trust me, there are far dumber wars than Iraq, Vietnam, and WW1.

lol. But A was thrown into ruin after D (or C if that's France), a known robber, tried to beat him up and damaged huge lots of property? And he's just asking for a bit of aid among his children and A gets the smallest part? But A is an inconsuderable douche that is still mad because Dad didn't let him go out beat E (the Indians) and F (Spain).

This is probably the most amusing discussion I've had.

By your logic, it's ok to be a pushover. They were being treated unfairly and took a stand and it became war.

Westmoreland's entire strategy was attrition.

The War in Vietnam never had a purpose, and because the mission was so vague (to keep communism out), calling it a war of attrition would be false. Eisenhower merely wanted to maintain French control, Kennedy was only willing to help South Vietnam if South Vietnam was willing to help itself, Johnson escalated and declared war but never actually bombed strategic targets. It wasn't until Nixon that it began to resemble anything even remotely close to breaking them down, piece by piece. Prior to that it was one cluster fuck followed by another of incompetent commanders unsure of what to do, how to progress, etc.

A war of attrition would also imply that we were fighting the other side with all that we could. We actually limited our boys on the ground.

B was mad because he wanted to make his father proud in hopes that he would give him some more room to breathe. So B sent off on an impossible gang shooting where B took over C's impenetrable crack house conveniently located in Canada. You could imagine B's loathing at the news of A giving back the crack house to C. It made no sense to B. "Why would a druggie not want a crack house?" he asked himself. His distaste for his father grew and B openly expressed it. In the side lines C watched waiting for the proper moment, while sailing around on his unnecessarily large amount of yachts. C made his move, and began establishing small relations with B by offering to pay some of his rent. It was around this time that A came by and started taking the rent money B needed to survive independently from A. B was furious so he asked his father to "GTFO" and frequently attacked him with water balloons and nerf guns as A tried to walk up the stairs into B's weapons Cache. By the time A got there, B had already gave the weapons away to nearby illegals that promised to help him get the Boston Redsocks game on the TV. (way off topic, back on topic) A was being a dick and was changing the standards of living that B had grew up with, for the worse.

Every war is stupid!
Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.
