I really pity whoever she might shoot with the taser while drunk. Heart attacks are not a fun thing to go through.

*shrugs* That's your opinion.

It's different for everybody.

For the marriage thing I always viewed it as a more your not asking to marry the girl, your asking to be part of the family.
You don't really marry a person, but you marry into a family in my view.

But also unlikely to happen in her age group.
We used to taser each other when drunk in undergrad and the army.
Most of the taser induced heart attacks have been either on the very old are those on cocain.

True. Still, not a risk I'd rather take, especially with rising obesity rates and such things. Bit of a killjoy to have a two hundred-some pound guy collapsing on someone.

More single 18 year olds for me that way.

I've had a couple of different guys that were interested in me, but then got absurdly nervous about the possibility that my dad might not approve. None of them has ever been concerned that my mom might have a problem with them.

It's really not helpful to be so paranoid. If you're dating a girl and she's worried about what her dad thinks, then you have a reason to be concerned; but otherwise you're just making things more nerve-wracking than they need to be. If it seems like a guy is more concerned about my dad's opinion than mine, that causes problems in the relationship.

Ladies, do your dads chase away would-be boyfriends, or did they chase away would-be boyfriends when you were younger?

I actually have to agree with the OP on this one.
To be fair I do think that the PARENTS (not just the father) should have a say who their daughter dates when she is still a minor.
But if she is an adult then it's neither one of their businesses.

If my daughter is 18 and wants to go to a party with some friends, I'd give her a taser as a late birthday present and say "have a good time"

for a small fee of 5000 dollars per date, I can follow your daughter covertly, and decapitate the SOB if he so much as lays a hand on her.

I wouldn't care if my daughter has sex. As long as she's 18 and is being responsible.

My mom really didn't want me to have sex with my ex-boyfriend (I didn't), and I was surprised when I vaguely implied that I might want to have sex with my girlfriend (I most definitely do xD) and she pretty much said that what we do is our business and she doesn't mind if we do. Mom didn't much like my ex. Obviously she definitely likes my girlfriend o.o

I'm 21 btw.

It's not the "lays a hand on her" that I'd be worried about, it's the "lays her" part. :P

I'd probably best not... I've seen some frankly bizarre, ignorant and sometimes downright stupid posts from him on matters regarding sex. I actually have things to do today, I can't afford to blind myself in an impotent rage.

Regardless, got on great with my ex's Dad - And Mum, really, they both seemed to really like me.

I get on with my current girlfriends parents, though since they live around three hundred miles away, I don't see them much.
