Where are your ethnic roots from?

My amcestors are scottish Irish and English. One of my ancestors was one of Harold the Saxon's Generals at the battle of hastings.

On my father's side there is German and Israeli. On my mother's side there is English and Cherokee Indian (albeit a very small amount).

As far as I know, I am part German (I apparently had a relative come from Pomerania when it was still German so I'm apparently part-Prussian), English, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, with a little bit of Scottish, Italian, and French.

So yeah, I am basically a European mutt.

I'm British, French, and a weee bit of Scottish. Other stuff is in there, just not dominantly. Apparently, from the genealogy experts in my family, Lady Godiva is one of my ancestors.

I'm American, though.

Norman French: Father's side, or the Badass side (See Norman Invasion).
Bavarian: Mother's side, specifically Ausburg, my grandfather grew up there in the 40s.
Blackfoot: Also mother's side, Native Tribe out west.
Swedish: Again, mother's side.
English: Father's side, I guess.

One of my crazy granduncles traced some of my lineage to Ancient China. So it is likely that I am related to some Chinese guy, but very far. Like, not even visible if you made a family tree.

Dammit.

The worst part about this exchange is that I had ancestors that not only were of the slave-owning generation, but were actual plantation-owners.

One of them wrote a letter explaining why she wasn't racist in doing so, actually. It proved she wasn't that, at least. :lol:

Though, in thinking about it, how do you know your ancestors didn't own slaves in their areas before coming over?

Lets see, Scots, Irish, English, welsh, German, native American, African., sheep, goat and the neighbors dog. Probably a few others. My ancestors didn't really care who or what they fucked.

Seeing that I am an Afrikaner, (South African of Dutch descent) most of my ancestral roots lie in the Netherlands and Belgium.

That being said, I also have Portuguese, German, Turkish and Native South African (Bantu) ancestry in me.

Ethnically, I'm Californian.

My mom comes from Seoul, my dad from Gyeongsang province. My dad's roots are generally from Gyeongsang, and my mom's roots go into Hwanghae Province (now in North Korea), and according to legend as well as to China.

Paternal Side:

German and Polish immigrants through my paternal grandmother, who lived in Michigan as a child.

"Pennsylvania Dutch" and Swedish through my paternal grandfather, who came from Nebraska.

Maternal Side:

Maternal Grandfather is of W.A.S.P. origin, came from the northwest corner of Iowa, lived in the Grey's Harbor area of Washington and southern Oregon near Grants Pass.

Maternal Grandmother is a mystery as yet.
