"Women shouldn't have sex or be sex objects. They should have self-respect, and empower themselves by becoming successful in business, medicine, law, academia, politics, etc.."

"How dare you! You hate women!"

This is the problem with you modern sex-positive types.
This is why gay marriage will destroy American families.
Gays are made up of gaytrinos and they interact via faggons, which are massless spin 2 particles. They're massless because gays care so much about their weight, and have spin 2, cause that's as much spin as particles can get, and liberals love spin. The exchange of spin 2 particles creates an attractive force between objects, which is why gays are so promiscuous. When gays get "settle down" into a lower energy state by marrying, they release faggon particles in the form of gaydiation. Everyone is a little bit gay, so every human body has some gaytrinos in it, meaning that the gaydiation could cause straight people to be attracted to gays and choose to turn gay.

Ever thought that maybe women not having sex reduces their self-respect and empowerment?

Saying that women who have sex don't have self-respect is pretty goddamn misogynist. As is saying women who have sex can't be successful in business, medicine, law, academia, politics, etc.

I don't see how this is a problem. You're treating women like we're children and patronizing us. I don't see how this is much better than "Women shouldn't have jobs, they should stay at home and pop out babies all day." because really, at the end of the day you're still a man telling women what we should be doing.

Even if you were a woman, telling women what they should be doing is offensive. It's just a bit worse because you have male privilege to go along with your sanctimonious remarks.

I mean, why don't you think that I have self-respect because I enjoy sex as well as doing science, for instance?

I never said either one. However, I do think that having sex is a sign of less self-reliance than celibacy. Having sex shows a dependency on others.

I think you have less self-respect than you could have. If you never had sex or a relationship, you could focus all the extra time on doing more science, and thus being even more successful.

I think you have less self-respect than you could have.

And you would be wrong.

If you never had sex or a relationship, you could focus all the extra time on doing more science, and thus being even more successful.

Self-respect != successful career

I don't respect myself because I do good work. I have a whole host of reasons to have self-respect and self-esteem. Without self-respect and self-esteem, I would not even be here to do work.

Also, independent of my relationship, I am still a person who worries and stresses and sometimes doesn't know the best way to go about things. While I can talk to my supervisor about some issues and my friends about others, my partner is also in science and my partner knows me better than most people do. He's often much better at helping me through problems I'm having with issues I find difficult to discuss with other people. Similarly, when he is troubled, I help him as best I can. And if we were living on the same continent, it would be even better. Having someone else to look after cooking while you do a few last minute things for work or trading off (e.g. he cooks dinner, I prepare lunch for tomorrow) saves time and effort on something you'd otherwise have to do for yourself anyway. Being in a relationship makes a lot of things about life easier so I can concentrate better on work.

Oh, and by the way if you want to know who convinced me to apply for grad school: that would be my partner. I thought I wouldn't get in, he encouraged me to try anyway.

Yeah, so you wait for something that won't happen until after we're all dead (if at all) and I'll go live and love in the present.

Not really.

The point where it can develop to what your are thinking will take centuries after it starts.

Even then; only so many would be interested. It's not going to replace much.
