So I watched the Liverpool - Man United game. Great game, pity about the result. I switched (or, more accurately, my boyfriend switched) to the NFL at Wembley. I lasted about 15 minutes of mind-numbing dullness before I was begging him to switch to West Ham - Arsenal. Thankfully he did. It was only a slight improvement.

I used to live in Akron Ohio, and I have some friends on Facebook that still live up there, and every week we get into arguments about why the Browns suck and how bad they suck. I still nominally root for them, but when you live in a state where your teams are the Browns and the Bengals, sane football fans will start following the better of the two, which has generally been the Bengals.

It's exasperating for me when people say something like "DA sucks" and leave it at that--I keep trying to point out to them that a team doesn't suck for ten years without having terrible owners/management. Derek Anderson would probably do better on a better team; but all anyone cares about is the fact that he has the League's lowest passer rating (nevermind that our WR's fairly consistently drop otherwise perfect passes, and pass protection up front leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Of course, they see me say this and (much like some people here...) are fully prepared to distort it by insisting that I'm saying "DA is great" or some such nonsense. I think DA is probably an average QB, all other things being equal; but when a team fails everyone looks for a guy to blame. Cleveland's offense has been terrible for ten years, DA or no DA.

I had to learn the names of some American football teams today, I can still remember them:
Oakland Rangers
Miami Dolphins
Minnesota Viking...?
New York Jets

Very eccentric names compared to our English Football teams. :)

It's a great game. My flat-mate for next year got it as his first serious game (after the ones that came with the bundle). Apparently NCAA 10 is really good too, perhaps even better than Madden.

They're both pretty great, but I think I like Madden a bit more yet. All the same, I intend on getting FIFA 10 ASAP.

How Rex Ryan's NY Jets devoured the Patriots in week 2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-9IGMSIcz4

Everytime I see Rex Ryan, I'm always thinking that's what Eric Cartman would look like if he were real and grown up. Ryan's got it all, he's fat and got a big mouth, and I can see him call Belichick a 'stupid jew' or something.

-Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
-Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500

Man what the fuck is up with Jake Delhomme, he just isn't have any good games at all this year. He threw three interception. Carolina's defense was great, but Jake just screws everything up.

Maybe it's time to bench him for a game and let someone else be starting QB.

DA is awful. Brady Quinn is also rather awful. As cancerous as they might have been, you don't get better on offense by trading away your quarterback's two best targets. Hiring a guy like Eric Mangini, who is such a douche that he makes Bill Belichick look like the nice guy in their feud, and drafting crap, is squarely on the front office.

Fix'd, but I'm sure some of the other clubs have an RL mascot that just isn't used in their name, exe the Gunners.

Chelsea: The Pensioners or The Blues
Newcastle United: The Magpies
Blackburn: The Riversiders
Westham: The Academy of Football or The Hammers
