That's probably the most impressive thing about this season. Aside from Chelsea.

Man Utd had the traditional rusty early few games, but since then they've been playing, basically, terribly. And they're still winning by several goals at a time. The demolition of West Ham is a case in point.

I don't really rate Valencia, but Anderson has been doing a great job. I really like Nani, people need to get off his back; he's an incredibly talented player, he just needs that final ball, and the final ball is always a problem for young wingers; look at Aaron Lennon!

I wish Berbatov was a midfield playmaker rather than a striker, it would suite how he actually plays a lot more.

Yeah...I'm a United fan. When I started watching football (courtesy of my Dad) Cantona played for United. That's the entire reason I started supporting them. Cantona.

My Dad's reason for supporting them was that growing up in Belfast he played park football with George Best.

yes

Yeah, there was a rumor going around that an MLS expansion would be coming to New Orleans, but, the idea seems to have been scrapped...

Meh, nobody likes MLS.

You'd be surprised. My school is tainted with soccer fans, but not a lot.

I just remembered that last year they wanted me to come and watch the Fire at one of their houses. I went (they had pizza and buffalo wings) and was bored as hell. It was like 2-1, the score of 98% of soccer games.

Whereas watching the game at Toyota Park is much more interesting. ;)

Specially play-off games. Those are gun to go to.

I don't get why there is a general feeling by some Americans that games where scores are 1-0, 2-1, 2-2 etc. are bad things. Sure the occasional high scoring game (like Wigan's 9-1 thrashing) are fun to watch when they happen but if there were constant high scoring in football then I reckon the games would become boring. The whole beauty of the game is the tactics and the build up play, watching a team work together effortlessly to create chances and a goal. It allows for a much larger range of emotion in my opinion, making the whole thing fun. That's why, to me, it's the beautiful game.

The most beautiful thing about football is the goals, because they are so rare, and it takes SO much talent to score one. It is a spectacular moment. That's one of the reasons I hate arena football, because they score way too much.

Yeah, but it also takes away from alot of the atmosphere though, we go to games primarily to get drunk and yell our heads off, if there's not as much scoring, there are fewer things to yell for...

Your dha played with Best in Belfast! Incredible!

Cantona was also incredible and a reason to become a Red.

I would totally rate Valencia - he is proving himself a level headed, skilled workhorse. I do admit I can see why Sol Campbell would be an option - no doubt he is experienced, and no doubt we need someone to partner Vidic - if he stays fit - other than Brown or Gaz Neville who both I think do better as right backs. I guess I just feel Sol Campbell may be rusty...but, In SAF we trust, I suppose.

I'm glad to hear you think Donovan is a good option - I've been watching vids of him and he does seem more impressive than I've realized. I trust David Moyes's judgement. Talented manager on some bad luck.

A girl who likes football should not be as a rare a thing as it is. Football really should be an inclusive sport - most of my female mates are much better at it than myself.

Also, I understand why you think Berba would make a good attacking mid...those silky passes, the clean possessive control, that wonderful touchline assist to Ronaldo in last season's Everton game...But there will always be his uncanny finishing. When he is on, he is one of the smoothest finishers in the game. If that Wolfsburg game is a sign of Owen getting some confidence and form, I think Berba and Owen will play better in competing for first team football. However, Rooney must be fit - it's a pity he isn't.

And what are the wrong reasons?

This fact doesn't surprise me - football is still very much a lads game in England and netball is a game for women - in the states netball is all for men.

The wrong reasons being that it is generally seen as a "girly sport", my sister played it, because she was into sports and it was acceptable, for example...

I think what the problem is, is that there is a lot of ideas out there in the mainstream media in the States that footy is a non-physical sport that is dull and boring. I know firsthand that once I actually got someone to sit down and watch a few games (okay so I used the EPL and the Champions League, sue me :p) they actually started to like the game and found that the stereotypes were pretty false. Heck, one person I knew hated the game with a passion, and has now become one of the biggest footy fans I know. So, I really think that our problem is undoing all the negative publicity and stereotypes that the mainstream American media puts out about the game and then getting fans to the games. More advertising is definitely needed, as one of my friends is a huge footy fan, but had no idea that a national team game was being played in their city that day because there had been no advertising for it. That never would have happen anywhere else in the world.

I don't think there is a more physical league than the English League One... However the Premier League and Champs League do offer a little more creativity and attacking swagger.

Actually, that really never happens. An average score of a game is like 24-28 or so. It obviously goes far and wide between though where some games are barn burners and others are defensive nail biters. For the people above me, your missing the point. I'm not saying I like to see 9-1, but 4-5 games are much more exciting. I'll take a Big 12 shoot-out over a 2008 Auburn 3-2 victory. I'll take a Steelers defensive game over some other poor quality defensive games though as well. It all depends. Back on topic though, you can have close games and high scoring all in one.

On the goals being so rare its exciting topic, that makes it boring. Just as Maurepas said, its a whole lot of standing around. Its like a locrasse game. Ugh, locrasse....

I don't blame you one bit. Wait until after the bowl game to leave, especially a BCS Bowl game. During the offseason you have the right to go wherever you so choose.

He didn't really lie though. He kept it out in the air that he might leave. He still stabbed you guys in the back either way.

34 goals divided by 15 games is "3 and 4 per game"??? :palm:
and that's not including that 'champions league' where it is 10 goals in 6.
