Right, the transfer market is exactly what I'd like to talk about because its the middle of December and it seems like shit has already happened.

Is Sol Campbell REALLY going to Man United? I mean - won't a load of their defenders be fit by January? That seems absurd.

And this American Donovan that is going to Everton? What's his point? Everton need a creative attacking midfielder for Arteta...do Americans possess creative footballers?

Donovan is actually surprisingly creative for an American. I did not know he was set to go to Everton, very interesting.

Well he isn't set yet. And from the rumor mill, Everton isn't the first EPL side looking at him for the remainder of this season, I've heard Arsenal has been looking his way as well. Personally, I think Donovan would personally do better in a league like La Liga or the Dutch league. I'm just not sure he can thrive in a physical league like the EPL, since he couldn't do it in Germany, though I will admit that he wasn't given a fair shake at Munich since only Klinse wanted him there.

The rumor from Everton is they are just finalizing the deal. I'd be much more surprised to see him go somewhere else. Americans I think actually tend to adapt better to the English game - look at Dempsey at Fulham or Altidore who is making strides at Hull. I didn't mean to really claim Donovan is uncreative - after watching videos (I'm not up on the US National team for some reason nor have I ever watched an MLS game despite of, in inspite of, Becks) - I see Donovan as probably being a good player that is more of a cover for the wings or a split striker. I think he could play along side Arteta. He looks like he is a fairly physical player - I remember watching that game against Spain and the Americans almost looked like an tough nosed English team.

I've never seen an MLS game, Id like to, but they seem intent on not expanding down here like they were rumored too, :(

Yeah, there was a rumor going around that an MLS expansion would be coming to New Orleans, but, the idea seems to have been scrapped...

You'd be surprised. My school is tainted with soccer fans, but not a lot.

I just remembered that last year they wanted me to come and watch the Fire at one of their houses. I went (they had pizza and buffalo wings) and was bored as hell. It was like 2-1, the score of 98% of soccer games.

2-1 one is a good score line...Lots a fan on both sides can feel emotively. Many matches I watch are 1-0 or nil-nil.

That is a bit of the appeal of American Football there, that never happens in an NFL game...

Well a game that ends 7-6 happens quite a bit(obviously not a majority but still) which is the basically the same as a 1-1 or more a 1.2-1 score.

The American national team is actually quite hard nosed. Onyewu (who is playing for AC Milan) is really tough in the back. I think our main problem is lack of finishing ability. We just never seem to want to shoot.

And Philly is getting an MLS team next season. My friend already has season tickets. They will probably suck, but oh well.

That Onyewu bloke has played about 1 match for AC...

I've watched a bit of Altidore for Hull and will follow Donovan at Everton. Speaking for Altidore - he likes to shoot and create. Good young lad.

Not enough, really. And those that will be back won't have been back for long (i.e. are just back from injury) making them more prone to picking up another injury.

Come January...Ferdinand will (possibly) be out. Evans will be out. O'Shea will be out. Providing Vidic remains fit, that gives them one natural central defender. Campbell would be a sensible signing in that scenario.

And this American Donovan that is going to Everton? What's his point? Everton need a creative attacking midfielder for Arteta...do Americans possess creative footballers?

Landon Donovan is actually really, really good.

Arteta (who is amazing) would likely be back by mid-to-late January, and Osman should be back before the new year (as should Neville).

That at least would theoretically give them some options. God knows when Anchebe would be back for backup. Donovan is a skilful, talented, creative, attacking midfielder. Even with Arteta and Osman back, Everton need him.

Incidentally, the biggest injury list in the EPL is Man Utd; 10 players:
Rooney
Brown
Vidic
Neville
Fabio
O'Shea
Evans
Berbatov
Ferdinand
Hargreaves

Aside from the fact that the two first choice forwards are injured (although Owen's hat-trick was impressive, and Welbeck looks more impressive by the game), to have eight defenders (including almost the entire first and second choice back four) injured is arguably unprecedented.

And let's not forget that van der Sar isn't at full fitness yet...

Yeah, I'm a girl who loves football.

And yet through it all, United is still blasting people for 3 and 4 goals a game. As long as they can keep this up while the backline gets healthy, I see our usual new year run to the title.
