I meant that Iowa wouldn't be playing Florida in a bowl game.

What the hell are you talking about? Iowa is playing Florida and TCU is playing Boise St. I hate it really. Who wants to see two bcs busters play eachother? Just like I said in my post near the top of this page.

EDIT: My mistake, Florida is not playing Iowa. Boise is playing TCU though.

With Germany's players they should beat the USA every time. Just as well that's not how football works or it would be very boring...

Don't get me wrong, even as an American supporter, all I am expecting is to get to the next round and crash out to the Germans. I know our limitations, we're far from a first tier football power. However, as you say, football doesn't work the way it should all the time, which is one of the reasons why it is the beautiful game IMO.

The reason why I want BSU-TCU is that the winner, will most likely be ranked in the top 10 to begin next season, and will be in a better position to be in the 2011 BCS Championship game.

As for the World Cup, I'm hoping that the US beats England, therefore there's a USA-Australia match-up in the round of 16, the winner of which will most likely lose to France.

So...for fans of NFL teams who have no shot at the playoffs, who do you hope your team drafts this spring?

Kinda early for Draft talk, but I'd like to give Rams, Lions and Browns fans something to talk about. :p

I'moing to use simple logic in why i think the France won't even advance. Well yeah they suck. Literally they just got to the world cup because they cheated, and come on Ireland deserves it more for actually playing the game. I can barely see the French having a chance in their group, theyt are on a downturn these days.

I'm tempted to put money on the Browns drafting Tebow, which would be a pretty bad idea. The Browns generally have terrible draft picks. They picked up Couch way too early in the draft; likewise taking Quinn was a mistake of epic proportions.

I often say that the Cleveland Browns are the most poorly run franchise not only in the NFL, but in all of North American pro sports. They've been pretty much the worst team in the league since they came back (with the exception of '07), and I'm always getting into arguments with other Browns fans about why we suck. "DA blows" they all say. Guys.. you don't suck for ten years because one guy is sucking now. Derek Anderson is probably a middling NFL quarterback. Not the best, but not the worst. He'd probably be decent for us if we had any pass protection, or if running the football was even remotely feasible. But the fact of the matter is we have shit for blocking up front, which means no run blocking and precious little pass blocking. The Browns O-Line has tried their damndest to turn Couch, Holcomb, Frye, Anderson and Quinn into scrambling quarterbacks ("oh look at that... the pocket collapsed again"), but none of them were ever very good at it. I predict that the Browns will continue to suck about 90% of the time as long as the Lerners own that franchise.

Whats really bad is they had all the pieces a few years ago. The Benglas have at least had a few good seasons every now and then when Carson is healthy.

Know that feelin, for years the Saints had horrid recruiting because Tom Benson was never willing to put up any real money, within the past few years his daughter has been taking up more of the management, and she's been willing to put out more money, and, well, you see where we are now, ;)

It didn't look good, but we won. I'll take a win any way possible. Besides, against the Ravens you hardly ever get a good looking win. 8-4 and ain't no Colin Cowherd raining on that!

You know, of all passing statistics, sack rate is the one that remains most consistent as a quarterback switches teams--meaning the o-line seems to be less important than is commonly thought.

Having a Peyton Manning release is more important than having a Minnesota O-Line as far as avoiding sacks is concerned.

That would be a silly idea. The NFL has to many big time hitters on defense for that sort of thing. You can run it once in a while, but why are you going to guarantee your QB gets smacked about 20 times a game? Anyone willing to play QB for that team would have to be stupid, desperate, or both. A big DE running a 4.8 or a linebacker running a 4.5 means lights out baby!

Release does mean that much, having an offensive line is much more important, it allows you to scan the field longer, and make a precision play, you can't do that when your quarterback is being chased by 7 guys. I know, trust me, I am a Packer Fan.

Why do that when the rules these days clearly support passing. You can't touch the quarterback and you can't touch the reciever, so there's no reason to do anything different than run the ball some and pass. A few times a half you should chuck the ball up and wait for the flag.

Uh well you wouldn't really need a real quaterback as if you ran the Navy Option you never throw only if your losing. I mean first time in a longtime a game wnet without a single pass last year. I think Tebow or someone who is an option college person could do it and they would never have to throw.

Thats just playing how the man wants you to. The first team that goes all out into this would probally be followed eventually and i bet a good few teams would run it. If they make rules you follow them but there is nothing that says you cant and you never know what works until you try it.

I don't think Lerner's actually the problem. I mean, sure, he can't hire the right football people...at least not yet...but he's not afraid to spend money (hell, we just finished paying Butch Davis). I don't want much more from an owner than that.

I think the constant turnover of coaches/front office is what's fucking Cleveland up more than anything. Hire somebody (somebody good, not an idiot like Phil Savage), give them the power to turn the franchise around, and stick with them.

Now...WHO that person is...fuck if I know. But Lerner has to get it right eventually, I figure. Right? RIGHT? :(

Sorry, I don't follow... you mean it just becomes a fact of people saying "West Ham are the best team in the Premiership. Can't keep a clean sheet and have a lot of non-descript Italians to replace Bellamy and Tevez...but we're the best rah!"

Because in my mind that's all fanaticism is. That and terrible hygiene on a match day.
