given their still fighting a 150 year old war i'm not sure how useful they'd be. assuming you mean american civil war. not sure how much fun a russian civil war re-enactment would be though.

I think that they should be disciplined enough to not turn tail at the site of chariots. Besides, the American Civil War was the first modern war. Lot of things from it ended up in the First World War.

Some people do American Civil War re-enacting over here.

But we've also got a whole host of re-enacting groups over here, anyways.

I prefer the Wars of the Roses.

There is nothing at all which holds very much hope for Britain, or at least England.

the things that he's refering to do, mass transit, strategic generals, conscription, insurgency, steam ships. all of these things had existed previously but it was the first war to contain all of them.

The Nick Clegg mug/Tory umbrella/Labour bottle-opener-keyring all went to show that party HQs these days are arrogant, out-of-touch, and prone to doing some incredibly stupid things. On this note, the Tory Party has decided to establish a "new" party in Northern Ireland. Essentially, "NICUP" will try and do what the UUP is too stupid ("scum of Sinn Féin, etc.( to do, and appeal to moderate Protestants and pro-Union Catholics (they even had the audacity to ask the UUP to disband and merge into them a few months back).

Quite how the "new" NI Tories is any different to the old NI Tories, who scarcely exist and performed dreadfully in all elections up until 2010, when they joined forces with the UUP to invent UCUNF (which failed miserably too), is completely beyond me. However, it seems that Lord Feldman thinks it a good idea to set up a party with no established recognition, no core support base, limited funds (for now) and organisation, and an association with various offences to both sides during the Troubles (bizarrely, they seem to think that the arrival of the Tories will make NI politics move past the Troubles); and seriously believes this party can wrest its target market from the UUP (trad. moderate unionist home), SDLP (for pro-Union Catholics), Alliance (for moderate people), and the DUP (default unionist party). It is apparently a marvellous idea to extend the "Conservative" brand to Northern Ireland, despite what happened to the Scottish Unionists when they were merged into the Conservative Party back in 1965.

One wonders quite how this is a more viable route than the Tories getting out of NI altogether and having the UUP seek the NICUP target market and take the Tory whip in Parliament. The UUP's in enough of a quandary to, in exchange for funding help, accept and relaunch themselves- and surely it would've got far more news coverage than the whimper with which NICUP has arrived on the scene.
