Happy Birthday! Your present* is a LibDem Nick Clegg Mug!
Alternatively, you could get** a (40% off!) Labour Party keyring/bottle opener, or a Conservative Party golf umbrella (as used by David Cameron and Theresa May!).
*Present you buy for yourself.
**Yourself.

As regards the Lords, I completely agree. Even the concept of two chambers of Parliament, representing the same electorate, but having different compositions and disagreements, is something of an absurdity. There's all manner of possible options and combinations of options, and I think that'll probably be the Achilles heel of any reform attempt- proposals will take so long to finalise that they'll only get to Parliament close enough to the election to not make it through in time. But I do worry about this government's tendency to push everything through with haste.
Hopefully the plans will just fizzle out and be quietly abandoned. Since the Hereditaries cannot be brought back, the best Lords would be one chosen by an independent organisation and the Queen, consisting entirely of appointees who are experts in their field (doctors, surgeons, lawyers, barristers, businessmen and so on), who can truly scrutinise a Bill through deploying their expert knowledge and give a strong, high analytical point of view on the effects of a proposed Law. I doubt that will ever happen though, since the last thing a Government wants is a Lords truly out of their control.

And yeah, trying to learn the guitar. Although its a little annoying how my tiny hands can't actually stretch properly between the frets.
