Well I presumably had something of an Orcadian accent way back (nothing on film, they still reckon cameras steal a part of the soul, kin? etc. up that way) and still get a massive west coast of Scotland type accent thing if pissed or anxious (this is fairly inexplicable, seeing as I've barely spent any time there) but yeah since coming to England it's always been 'refined' (i.e. deliberately unclear).

I think it's the weather more than anything else. Can't really sleep for 3 months in summer, can't really wake up for 3 months in winter. That and the constant risk of Norwegians showing up with their longboats and the like.
