Can you sing your national anthem?

Today I was thinking about how most of my friends cannot sing the national anthem. This got me to wonder, how many people can actually sing their national anthem. I can sing the first few lines of "Lofsöngur", Iceland's national anthem, but that is all. I've never really cared for it. Its to religious, in my opinion. I think its beautiful, I just don't like the words.

I can sing: "Ó, guð vors lands! Ó, lands vors guð! Vér lofum þitt heilaga, heilaga nafn! Úr sólkerfum himnanna hnýta þér krans þínir herskarar, tímanna safn." this is only the first four lines of the national anthem. :blush:

I can sing the first stanza. So basically, yes, because no one ever sings the other stanzas.

First verse because that's all that's really sung. I try not to sing it though, because it's shit (God save the Queen).

I can sing all of Mawtini, Palestine's unofficial anthem. I can also sing Biladi, which has been used in more recent years. I don't like Biladi though.

I also know:

Canada's (O Canada)
United Kingdom's (God Save The Queen)
Australia's (Advance Australia Fair)
New Zealand's (God Defend New Zealand) in both English and Maori.

i can sing the first verse. the rest is irrelevant.

I can sing God Save the Queen but I would prefer it if the anthem was Rule Brittania.

- Star Spangled Banner
- O Canada
- State Anthem of the Russian Federation (In Russian)
- Deutschlandlied (In German)
- Mae Hen Wlad fy Nhadau (In Welsh)

I also know the anthem of the GDR, Germany and the USA.

I know the US, UK, German, and USSR anthems. I only know the Soviet anthem by heart (it's sort of sad since I live in America).

I do, all the four stanzas. But only the first is usually sung.
(also the CCCP anthem, the German anthem, the first two stanzas of the Marseillaise, and the first stanzas of the British and of the American ones).

Yeah. Although I wouldn't complain if it was switched out for 'Ireland's Call'. So much easier to sing when you're off your face and, let's be honest, that's the prime time for anthem singing.
