I really really doubt that there is one criminal who uses a machine gun they got legally. the ones who can afford them almost always have long rap sheets because they've been doing what they do best for a while. and if they were clever enough to avoid getting caught that long then they're certainly smart enough to not use something so easily traced to them.

Try shooting someone in the chest/face from holdup distance (1-3 metres) once with said M4, and see are they still standing.

Its a High Velocity round, meaning yes, its smaller, its Made to be AP and precise at 500 yards. Yes, Now, tell me is some random psycho will know this? Normal Civilians with No training, and probably only have played COD For all they know abouyt guns, are gonna think they can waste an airport. ANd not get wasted. thankfully, they will be ether taken out by someone behind them or shot by someone with a concealed weapons permit. And Yes, M4 are Carbine's. They can go full auto. ANy weapon with a semi auto function can go full auto, exceptions are probably shotguns and Fifty cal rifles.

It more than likely is. Assuming you follow the correct procedures (Release the mag, eject any round in the chamber and for goodness' sake don't look down the barrel) then you can clean a gun in peace, but a car accident? No procedures for those.
