I hear it's quite good but I haven't seen it. I have seen some criticism of it, just out of the corner of my eye, something about "Yeah, right, wearing all that crap in the heat of the Iraqi desert" from someone who served there. But like I say, just in passing.

The police can literally allow you to be murdered in your own home, because of that case. If you think US law enforcement is there to prevent crime and protect you, you are extremely naive. The police's job is to respond to crime, not all of it, though, and they have absolutely no obligation to protect you as an individual.

The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with it really. I don't need a full-auto weapon to defend myself. I certainly didn't get "E" devices attached to my marksman medals by spraying targets with bullets. I did it by placing the entirety of my magazine in the targets heart or head, one shot at a time.

Civilians don't train to murder. If someone were taking that much time to sight in a weapon at a rifle range on a human target, I'd be more than slightly worried.

They have just as fair a reason to own machine guns as the state, perhaps moreso because, as you stated, automatic weapons do not grant marksmanship medals. Maybe civilians just want to have fun shooting off thousands of rounds at paper?

Listen, I will reluctantly admit there are legitimate reasons for people to own hunting rifles and handguns.

Poors cause crime, not guns. Criminals are poor, they cannot afford transfer fees or take time to file paperwork with the ATF (especially the latter) to get legally transferred machine guns. Banning new machine guns does nothing, but requiring transfer fees and paperwork to be filled does do something.

If you want to ban guns, start by banning cheap .25 and .32 ACP pistols you can get for <$120.

Not usually a lot of time no. And it's my opinion in firearm defense, that if someone was in the need to defend themselves they would be more concerned about limiting the scope of damage, something done much better with semi-automatic or lesser weapons, than with fully-automatic weapons. I'm less concerned with people training to murder, there's no excuse for such a crime.
