So, what is your preference in brand, OS (operating system), and particular software for certain projects?
Not a Dell and for the other two whatever gets the job done.
And the eternal question: Windows or Mac?

No brand. I assemble them myself.
Also LibreOffice (but MS Excel), GIMP, Adobe Premiere & Illustrator, AutoCAD (thou shalt have no other CAD), Visual Studio Express, OpenWatcom C.

And the eternal question: Windows or Mac Linux?

It depends what for.

Macs do get any kind of malware, as the Mac OS is basically a stripped-down variant of FreeBSD... and they also stripped down the firewall.

No real "preference" other than it be a well-built, solid machine made from quality components. My machine though is about a 10 year old dell latitude. I prefer windows for my OS, both for personal and productity/software reasons. My preferred office software is MS Office, web browser is a tie between chrome and ie9(I use chrome, since I'm still on windows xp), and I can't really think of anything else.

I use windows. Its the most common Operating sustem and you can get most programs on it. Ones you can't run on mac. Plus theirs the whole can't touch the inside of a mac deal. I like to be able to tinker with a computer if I have to not lug it to hipster-heaven.

I use windows 7. Because it came on my Alienware laptop. I'm not a computer expert. I don't really care what Linux or Mac's can do that PC's can't or whatever. Window's lets me get on the internet and play games. That's good enough for me.

Just out of random interest, Would you buy a computer that is all-in-one, Like a mac, Was about the size of a CRT Monitor, and let you tinker with everything on the insides?

Probably not. All in ones don't really have the ability to be tinkered with. There's only a limited amount of parts you can have customizable in that small a space.

Linux. I tend to build my own PCs. I'm using a Dell laptop at the moment- linux is kind to it in ways windows could never be, in terms of resource management.

As for games, I'm more of a console gamer- however when it does come to PC gaming, I do fine playing them on linux using wine. Surprisingly pain-free.

its not a small space though, Its a LCD Screen, and tinker-able components in the back.... (Which sticks out, Like a CRT...)
Hypothetically, if it existed, would you be interested in it? :P

Yeah, this Customizable all in one idea is something that interests me a lot..

Brand: None. I build my own computer. For laptops, I don't care, as long as I know I'm not being ripped off.
OS: The newest Windows. I never understood the whining about Vista or Windows 8, I like both, and will be upgrading to Windows 8 as soon as it comes out.

But you don't like being ripped off, why use Vista?

The OS: everything.

Vista was a decent operating system but it wasn't much good compared to XP which it replaced. Windows 8, so far looks more touch screen based then conventional and looks like something that would be better suited for a tablet.

No, Vista was a hideous, bloated piece of junk that simply wouldn't run to any practical level on the machines it was claimed to be designed for.
