1. No preference, even better when I built it myself
2. Windows or Mac? well, there is only one obvious answer to that one.... Linux

Actually, I'm very green when it comes to coding and commands, but I find Ubuntu works a dream on my laptop. There's a large amount of internet help for Linux newbies too.

Perhaps you can help me with the one recurring problem i get in ubuntu....
I Try to install something, it whines another application manager is running...I Kill everything but the one application packager That i'm trying to use, And i still get the same error....![]()
That's probably the main thing that put me off ubuntu, that and that using sudo to do things never worked for me.

I use Fedora, but restarting tends to fix it. If not, then you're running something through the terminal at some stage from startup..?
EDIT: wait a minute there... How about you use the terminal first?

Well, Re-starting works sometimes....
What, Exactly, Should i do with the terminal first?![]()
Its the default ubuntu application installer, and in one case, the updater that have given me this error....
Maybe i should just use a different type of linux all together, Though i couldn't install it on this PC, which is a problem..
su
yum install [your package]

One of them is a win32 virus (Which i will accept, there is something like a 10% chance it was me)
The rest, there is no way they are my fault...
She's blaming me for the lot of them....
Although, its quite funny that "Macs don't get viruses", I Go about downloading crap all the time, I Barely think about viruses.
As of my scan 10 minutes ago, i have no viruses.
