Domestic policy he was great. saved the middle and working classes. solved the inflation problem and got taxes automatically adjusted for inflation.

Volcker solved the inflation problem, not Reagan.

Other than that, he raked up a mountain of debt, escalated the so-called War on Drugs, and needlessly started trouble with just about every other country that wasn't 100% 'Merican.

Heh - In the household I grew up in, he was the Anti-Christ. I've mellowed towards him, but I certainly don't think he was anything better than below average - a C-/D+ president.

Maybe it's because I grew up in the 80's, but I'd be surprised if anybody told me they didn't know about the Contras and Nicaragua. I probably do know more about the mess the US has made in Nicaragua (not just under Reagan!) than the average USAmerican, considering it made up a fairly substantial part of several of my university courses - US Di. (I can certainly find it on a map! )
