But Greek Orthodox? Not a common mix, as far as I'm aware. Would you mind me asking how that came about?

Was raised Prosperity Gospel, I rejected that as vile fairly early on and lived as a misotheist for about 15 years. After a traumatic life experience I realized that being angry with a God was easy b/c I took for granted that He'd be take my accusations silently; and that it was exhausting. He was always there, and I was tired. I knew Protestantism was filled with bibliolaters like my parents. I knew that I couldn't point to a verse within the Scriptures that suggested that Scripture was more important that what Christ established - the Church. And I knew that without a filter, anything could be discerned from Scripture willy nilly - like my father becoming a cultist in Wisconsin (ugh, a very sad story).

I tried the Episcopalian Church but.... the Priest introduced their beliefs as, exact words, "Well, you know... the Episcopalian Church believes in God or... whatever you want to call him... as if He we the pinnacle of creation, b/c, you know, He created it.... where are you going? Ah, well HAVE A NICE DAY!" He yelled at me as I left his office. I think you can see why I left.

The Catholic Church holds great appeal to me. But the Orthodox Church seems to speak the whole Truth to me. They love God for all the reasons I hated Him for so long. How could I turn away from that.

I base it on national identity, and I don't think bloodline should be considered. For example, genetically I'm half English and half Irish (making me a third-generation immigrant), but given that I've grown up in England, immersed in English culture, without so much as setting foot in Ireland, I consider myself completely English. And thus also British.

Otherwise, if we are to go on bloodline, what's the point of ethnicity? I could claim to be half-Irish, much like an American whose ancestors migrated in the 1700s could claim to be part-English/Scottish/German, and I then could claim to be part-Norman (and hence part-Norwegian) and part-German.
