Well that is the end of my off-topic discussion.

Sounds like they are gonna try every non-violent measure they can before doing a militant action.(at least for the US)

Yeah. AFTER you entered.

Why wouldn't the USSR help North Vietnam? Communist state, making America look like dickheads, making America pour money down the drain, make America go against its ideals, etc.

It was an all winning situation for the USSR.

We probably would need at least $350 billion (half of the US' budget). Which is a lot of money.

We don't have to project power though. We could just, leave other country's alone.

It would be nice to have some solid evidence linking these people to the Iranian Government apart from the "they were from Iran". A hacker from the United Kingdom broke in the DOD a few years ago it does not mean the British Government is actively engaging in cyber terrorism against the US does it?

Why on Earth would we do that?

We need to project power and influence. Otherwise, we can't protect our own interests.

An alleged plot - involving Iran - to commit terrorism inside the United States "is a fabrication," Ali Akbar Javanfekr, spokesman for Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said Tuesday.

Javanfekr said the Iranian government is awaiting details, but suggested U.S. authorities are attempting to distract American citizens from "domestic problems" by convincing them there is an outside threat.

It's about protecting our interests, not just to dick-wave.

If we wanted to dick wave, we'd start a random war in the Middle East based on some excuse we made up while we were taking a shit.

One of the accused is a Revolutionary Guard agent. Had the British hacker been an SIS agent I think the British government would have had a lot to answer for.

Any scenarios where we need a big europenis to defend our interests?

Naw dawg it's all about North Africa for dick waving. Or is that only for France. I guess Iraq and Egypt for Britain are kinda Middle Eastern. Where does Spain put their europenis? I'm genuinely curious.

How about most? If America's no longer looking out for our interests, we need to look out for our own.

The way we can do it is with France and your permanent seats on the UNSC, and a powerful military force to back it up, so we can take action if the US decides it's out.

Putting ships in the east Pacific region, and the Middle East comes to mind.

We could probably stick our europenis into South America.

According to who? I'm not even convinced 1% that this guy is working for the Iranian Government, although it's pretty hypocritical coming from the country that has assassinated people in the past.

It's the Saudis that are going to be really pissed off anyway.

Oh well, Iran just earned itself another round of sanctions.

I don't really see any chance of a succesful diplomatic initiative betwen the U.S and Iran, until Khameini dies.

According to recordings of the defendants planning the attack

although it's pretty hypocritical coming from the country that has assassinated people in the past.

I'm fairly sure the US has never attempted to assassinate an ambassador from a country they have relations with.

Great as the amount of money the US pay in foreign aid may be, I doubt it can equal the costs of an invasion of Iran.

First ever drone bombing campaign.
thousands of them to soften everything up.
Then....send a 100k troops straight to the heart of the country with drone support.
Then they surrender or call a ceasefire or peace treaty.
