On the "gay men not wanting cock 24/7," uh...depends. Having to keep part of yourself a secret can cause some aspects of schizotypy to show up, including an unhealthy preoccupation with sex.
Let's face it: if your life were a gray, repressive and scary nightmare of internal conflict, you would tend to be pretty over-the-top yourself if there were secret places you could go that were like a magic orange grove in the midst of the nightmare--sort of a temporary retreat from a continual maelstrom of fear, guilt, self-loathing and loneliness--and you could feel free for just a little while. The escape feels so much like a dream that it's hard to even believe that both worlds could be real. In one world, you're a horrible, filthy, hell-bound sinner. In the other, you are a being of living fire.
However, in a society where gay men are regarded more with yawns than with condemnation, it loses its glamour.
Really, if you are a heterosexual male or female and you're honestly asking yourself, "why should I care? What's in it for me? What's in it for society?" if you really can't bring yourself to truly feel compassion toward the queers, consider the possibility that being tolerant or at the very least disinterested just might help the queers behave a little more responsibly. Tolerance keeps everyone involved a little more grounded in reality.

This perhaps might be the case, but I highly doubt it. Gay people tend to be more resilient therefore they will still do it regardless. You can never tell though.......

I don't know. I can sympathize, personally (NS being an orange grove). And I wouldn't mind knowing where you got the idea that gay people tend to be more resilient.

Your circle is probably more of a cross-section. Most of my people are still in the closet. For some reason, I seem to be a magnet for them. Would you believe that I knew one guy who was a rabid Pentacostal, in his 60s and HIV positive (ironically through a transfusion), and nobody in his immediate life knew? Where do I keep finding these people?

I wasn't meaning that they do. I just think it would be a pretty good indicator of you being gay. If you read the rest of my post, I make that a little more clear.
Edit: And thinking about it, if I had meant that, it's kinda hard to argue. The stereotype of straight men wanting to get laid all the time is supposedly true, and is at the very least non-offensive and well accepted. I'd imagine that gay men probably want to get laid about as often.

For the record, straight men don't always want to get laid.
Some straight men do. Some straight women do, too. Some gay men and women do too. But not all, in any of the groups.
As somebody who has fucked both men and women, I've found that men aren't any more likely to want to fuck, at any given time, than women are. Men are far, far more likely to SAY that they always want sex and always think about sex, but the reality of the sex life tends to contradict this. Different men have different sex drives. Wish men were allowed to openly admit this without everyone telling them they're lying or queer.

So you would probably know better what I'm talking about than I would, but the problem is getting the concept that is in my head over into your head. But I think that, if I could manage to communicate this to you, you could probably correct me on a lot of details.
Look, have you ever noticed a stark improvement in a gay guy's mental health after he came out of the closet? By that, I mean not just general happiness but being more level-headed, more responsible, taking better care of his health, better groomed, etc.? Well, that's really a large part of what I'm getting at. I think that being closeted or even having to keep part of their lives "over there" when they are not out of the closet makes it very difficult for gay men to maintain a realistic outlook.
