Actually, I didn't know they celebrated Easter, though, upon second thought, its not pagan, so they really can't come up with a valid reason not to.

My sister once said that Mother's Day and Father's Day were pagan holidays that stemmed from the Romans worshipping their parents. WTF?

I'd never heard of that, and while it wouldn't surprise me if it were true, it doesn't automatically mean that one shouldn't set aside a day for one's parents, especially when those parents are loving, kind, and supportive. She's my half-sister, by my dad's first wife, who was a total bitch, so I can understand her not celebrating Mother's Day. But not a day for Dad? Yeah, they love each other, and know it, but still...

JWs try, according to them, to live by Bible principles. I suppose these holidays aren't in the Bible, but by the life of me I can't see anything wrong with them. Halloween, to me, has always been a cool night to dress up and gorge in candy. Not to worship the devil or anything of the sort. Christmas is a time for families to come together. I don't see anything wrong with it either. But JWs certainly do.

I try not to delve too much in their reasons. They're not, all in all, bad people, but you know, they think differently about certain things. Like, Harry Potter is complete anathema to them. I find the book quite innocent as it is.

Well all practicing Christians to try to live by Biblical principles. I agree though, I don't see any harm at all.

I know they're not bad people. I'd never say or think that. Would be like saying all Atheists are dickheads, all Jews are greedy, rat-like people, and all Baptists are fat, white supremacist gay-bashers.
