China, but not for this reason since one could point to many countries for that.

The issue that makes China distinctive is that no one will use the reverse gear, to reverse means pushing into that tiny space was wrong, and to be wrong is to lose face and since losing face is unacceptable, far better to sit in an intricate traffic jam blaring one's horn rather than do the decent thing and simply reverse a little so someone else can get through.

Italians might be good drivers but their road signs are so utterly random that everyone is in a permanent state of confusion, which naturally creates issues. I think that's why they vote for leaders who can make trains run on time, the country is so 'fuck it, I'll just put the sign here' that any semblance of organisation is appreciated, even if that's a mafia organisation.

No idea. I've heard the French and Italians for Europeans, and New Yorkers for the US. Asians? Aren't the streets over there in the big cities so crowded it's just about impossible to drive at all, let alone badly?

I think this is true almost everywhere. Everyone except old people that can't drive goes over the speed limit.

It sure ain't a British stereotype.

(By the by, I'm assuming you mean 'oriental' rather than 'sub-continental', which is what we in the old country tend to mean by 'Asian'.)

Doesn't mean we're bad drivers.

I mean, nobody calls the Germans bad drivers for driving at 140 miles an hour on the autobahn.

It's like when you're involved with something and then a giant can of Diet Coke with Bacon passes by and you're just like..

'Woah, giant can of Diet Coke with Bacon'

That's...not that bad.

The joke in Connecticut was "The speed limit on highways has been raised to 65. You may now go 85." It's rare that the fast lane isn't going at least 80, even in 55 zones.

Of course. Though any reasonably cynical observer could tell you they set it about 10mph lower than it should be to raise revenue.

That said, with exception to the Romans and Parisians, I find the Italians and French are better drivers than most Americans, even though they're a lot faster. Yes, they'll do 200 km/h on their motorways, and yes, they are quite aggressive, but they're not eating, drinking, reading a book or being distracted in some other way like American drivers tend to be.

Oh, and most of them drive manual transmission vehicles, making them more skilled than 75% or more of American motorists.

If I were a Texas cop, I would not even bother staying as low as ten over...

However, if I were a driver from Texas, I would very carefully consider the consequences and chance of escape from the police...
