No, you can't. You can imagine God. Feeling is a physical phenomenon. What you mean by "feeling" God is the same thing as people saying they "feel" a poem or a painting. It's not felt in the same way that pain is felt, and quite frankly, shouldn't be called feeling at all.

It was a very public form of execution that was first and foremost meant to send a message to other people, rather than simply executing prisoners. That's why, if Jesus of Nazareth existed, he was probably executed by crucifixion..

Unlikely. I Jesus existed, he'd have more likely have been stoned, him being a false prophet, and all.

Yes, if the Jewish authorities performed the execution. It was Passover, however, and they were forbidden from doing so, thus the Sanhedrin asked Pilate if he'd take care of it. Since one of Jesus' claims, or one that was claimed about him, was that he was the rightful king of Judaea, he was crucified as a rebel.

Saint Genesius, yes. I think the mocking plays is made up, frankly. Beheaded.

The Romans usually chopped your head off, especially if you were a citizen. Slaves and pirates and the worse criminals were crucified. Torture in various forms was used, sad to say. Slaves were almost always tortured in court cases, the feeling being that they needed the incentive to tell the truth.

Now I thought that the most common form of execution for Christians in pre-Constantine Rome was crucifiction, often combined with having a lion released in fron of them. Was that even a thing or am I combining two differant things?

I'm not really sure what the most common form was, but it sounds like you're remembering a scene from a movie. I doubt the Romans had that many lions just lying around. Sometimes people were given to the beasts, yes, sometimes crucified, sometimes simply beheaded. The Romans were running an empire, remember, they had real work to do. And if I remember correctly - from the Wiki article on the persecutions - the number of people killed was much smaller than generally thought.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. The Great Fire of Rome, in the summer of 64 CE, was blamed on the Christians by the Emperor, some say in an effort to divert attention from his own complicity. Of course, it's hard to tell from the acount in Tacitus if the Christians were confessing to being arsonists or Christians. Here's what Tacitus says:

As a consequence, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians [or Chrestians] by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but, even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular. In accordance, an arrest was first made of all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense multitude was convicted, not as much of the crime of firing the city as of hatred against mankind. Mockery of every sort was added to their deaths. Covered with the skins of beasts, they were torn by dogs and perished, or were nailed to crosses, or were doomed to the flames and burnt, to serve as a nightly illumination, when daylight had expired.

Tacitus is writing 30 years after the event, so there might have been people around who remembered.

When you say that you "feel" God, I assume you don't mean that you feel something produced by any of the five senses. You are talking about something purely internal.

And that's the problem. No one here doubts that people have "feelings", such as emotions. The question is how does one relate feelings to something with objective existence.

What is the objective difference between the two? If anything, the teachings of the Church of the FSM are more logically coherent than those of Christianity, with less obvious contradictions.

I can do my best, but in a bit. I have to head off for an hour or so. Good stuff (at least in the part I'm trying to share), lots of primary source citations, and hearty stuff most of us can agree on, but it's wordy. When I get back, I'll try to get it into bullet points.
