Why not? It's fun to dwell on concepts when you know that it will have no pertinance on your position in the afterlife.

Lets just say that whether there's a god or not has no weight on how I live life. In other words, it's not a pressing matter to me. Life's too busy to really dwell on it often, if at all.

Perhaps I'll be surprised when I die, perhaps not. In the meantime, I exist and make the best of it, deity existing or not.

Think about it. What benefits can you, immediate I mean, can get from debating whether a god exists or not? Other than amusement, that is. None. At least that's what I think.

If someone believes in the existence of a god, more power to them. If they do not, more power to them too. I just don't dwell on it because there's no time for it in my life. Other than the times I am fucked up drunk, and usually I tend not to remember what I talk about when wasted. So, not important.

I don't believe there is a God, or Gods. I do, however, know that I have no real way of knowing for sure. But I feel the evidence in favour of there being no divine beings is more abundant and valid. I am also fairly certain that if there is a God, or Gods, that it/they will not be the same as the Gods us humans believe in. I'm almost positive (as I have indepth knowledge of Christianity) that if there is a God, it will not be the Christian God, as there are too many contradictions concerning it, and I doubt any one religion could be more correct than another anyway.

I respect your outlook, but to me, doing that (and me alone) seems like a terrible waste of energy. But we all do what we want/must/can. If it helps you somehow, I won't judge you. And I won't judge anyone else who claims to believe in the existence of a god.

Whatever you do to pass your time, as long as it doesn't infringe upon my turf, it's ok by me.

Not exactly sure what "your turf" is but if it's beliefs... I can ridicule it all I want should I find reason to, it's within my rights. But I don't find a reason to ridicule yours though. Perhaps it is a waste of energy... but it is more stimulating to the noggin than playing video games or watching TV.

Then found one. All you need is a love of pasta and a pirate hat(10 bucks tops). Also check the website to get a certificate (30 usd), and a copy of the holy book helps (10$). So for around 50 bucks plus the cost of printing flyers to spread the word, you can start a branch.

although I have been reading about the new anti-matter research that shows anti-matter may be less stable than normal matter which may show how the universe formed, since our anti-matter partner may have decayed before annihilation, thus leaving regular matter behind as a kind of cosmic residue. i get some of the basic but the math is way beyond me.

I will not poke further because it is a bad idea to annoy a physicist when there is uranium in the house.

Oh no, I'm aware that we can make certain predictions. Admittedly, there are issues with the current framework we're using, but...we can.

So far though, nothing that's a hit on a deity. :)

Let's put it this way, why does it make more sense scientifically to posit the action of a deity in the creation of the universe?

It doesn't have to when it makes no less, but...since I don't think that's satisfying to anyone, I'll go ahead and form some incredibly speculative and incomplete evidence for the idea, as with every other I've heard of.

Mostly, I'm thinking about how odd it is that the universe is expanding as it does rather than at its supposed rate--it has to be drawing from extra-universal sources...that's probably a good start...*shrugs*

There will be more, have no fear--I just use NSG debates as a way to bounce ideas and do some thinking, so...

So, finding that the universe is expanding faster than we previously thought means there is a God in charge of everything? Couldn't it be that the universe is just expanding at a different rate than we previously thought?

It doesn't just do so for no reason, though. There's some reason it does. Possibly a failure in the Conservation of Energy, but...then that raises its own questions, actually more helpful to the possibility of things like the supernatural. And like I said, it's only a start. I still have to find that one writing of Kaku's that I can use as a source...
