I believe in god, but the non-interfering "Divine Clockmaker" style god, I he made the universe and I also believe he has better things to do then focus on what one person on a planet of billions of people which is just one planet out of billions of planets is doing right now. I also believe that since he's omnipotent its pretty much impossible to understand him as we aren't omnipotent beings. I settle for doing science and figuring out how his creation works.

Yes, I believe in God, something can not come from nothing which blocks all possibilty of a "big bang" God has changed lifes, he has turned the sinful on the right path! off the condemnation of souls thing. I cannot help but see how the red sea just randomly parted right as the jews were crossing, also how the world just randomly flooded when God told Moses it was going to. ALSO I really cannot believe that we "evolved" from monkies or apes! If we share 98% of our DNA with other primates then we share 13% with Banana's! DID WE EVOLVE FROM BANANAS??? I DONT THINK SO!!! Also to see all the things happening today that are so good, preformed in the name of God! RELIGION is what tears us apart, not God, it tells us in the Bible that we will one day reunite as one church so what's up with hating eachother as Christians? we should be celebrating the diffrences and talking about them! God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit have made themselves present in my life multiple times. I can only hope my athiest counter-parts will one day talk with the faithful and try to understand where we are coming from. (and possibly convert ;D)

Yep. I don't disagree with this, at all. :)

Saying we have proof we don't have is all I was arguing about. :)

argueing we have no accurate predictions is just as incorrect, proving the universe is expanding destroyed whole sweets of hypothesis about the origin of the universe, I poked my flatmate enough and he threw me this http://map.gsfc.nasa.gov/universe/WMAP_Universe.pdf
because I am a biologist and geologist so once you get much before planet formation I am ignorant.
although I have been reading about the new anti-matter research that shows anti-matter may be less stable than normal matter which may show how the universe formed, since our anti-matter partner may have decayed before annihilation, thus leaving regular matter behind as a kind of cosmic residue. i get some of the basic but the math is way beyond me.

I will not poke further because it is a bad idea to annoy a physicist when there is uranium in the house.

I got quite annoyed after the Haiti earthquake. A baby was taken from the wreckage and people said it was a miracle. It would have been a miracle had God stopped the earthquake. Then where'd god come from?
Also no intelligent person has ever said we evolved from apes. Apes and humans share common ancestry, as for the "13%" bananas I want to see a source. I"d also like to point out that in all probability all life on earth is descended from only one or two initial bacteria-like organisms. Which explains why all life on earth pretty much relies on the same 3 basic elements for life.

Do I believe in God? Yes
Do I believe everything the Bible says? No
Do I believe following my Religion is the only way to Salvation/Heaven/Nirvana etc? No
Do I get a lot of shit for that at my church? Yes

EDIT: I put God instead of Salvation...minor mistake fixed.

Perhaps you ought to look for a church that's more accepting.

Why do you feel the need to derail the thread? Make one about that and let the rest debate the OP's topic.
