Frankly my Problem with OWS, is that they aren't angry enough.

The system has failed them, and has proven itself to be broken, why are they "Negotiating"?
I wouldn't.

What else is there to do?

Once you stop negotiating then you only have two choices: give up and go home or pull out the guns.

I certainly don’t want them to give up but, on the other hand, do we really want a Second Civil War in America?

Absolutely. I have no faith in the system, the fact that they still do is a mystery to me.

I'd join them, but they don't represent my interests. Unless they wish to the end the oppressive bourgeoisie state capitalist establishment, then they are simply more of the same as far as I am concerned.

Do people really continue to claim that we don't live in a police state already?

New York openly ignores and violates the 1st amendment, no action taken.

We get the government we deserve apparently.

Brave internet tough guy here. Why don't you get out there and live your words? Take a stand and fight against the man, or some revolutionary claptrap like that. Seriously, someone's gotta start it. Why not you?

The city of New York ignored its own zoning and health codes for weeks out of a willingness to indulge and facilitate the protesters speech. They went above and beyond the call in indulging this camping trip as long as they did.

History lesson: back when Solidarity was gathering steam in 1980-1981, there were radical elements who wanted to demand more and more and outright oppose the Communist regime in Poland.

But the last two times there had been open strikes/revolts in 1970 and 1976, the Party sent in the military to put them down after striking workers burned several local Party headquarters.

Lech Walesa successfully marginalised those radical elements and committed Solidarity to negotiating with the Communist Party.

Conclusion? Don't demand the bloody moon and then wonder why you get nothing, you can't win without negotiations.

You don't have to grab an AR and shoot up a bank or anythibg that will get you dead. Go, live your words, and figure out how to make your revolution happen. You don't need to be a murderous maniac like Dr. Guevara, you can follow the path of Lenin, fight with your words.

What do you think I'm doing right now?

The Internet is the Modern "Town Square Soapbox" Whereby the Free Market of ideas flow. Government attempts to stem this flow of information have routinely failed, as politicians attempt to regulate freedom of information out of existence, elements that foster it grow more radical.

Don't demand the bloody moon, and be shocked when the powerholders flee to another variant of violent radicals. Be it Freikorps, falangists or whatnot.

The KPD, Rosa Luxembourg and the other links-radikal howed the row for Hitler to sow.

The internet is for porn, and it's a case study of self-selection. Those of us who are involved and concerned make up a tiny fraction of the population. The bulk of users float around on ebaumsworld, brazzers, deadspin and whatnot. The internet has made it easier to become disengaged, to replace actual activism with clicking a like button, or upvoting. The government doesn't need to restrict the internet. Look around. This is the Brave New World, Huxley, not Orwell, was right.

Don't be ridiculous. You are you. You are alone. "Clicktivism" won't achieve anything.

I've often viewed the internet as the modern "printing press". It is a revolutionary tool, or can be, much like the original printing press was during the 1400's and onward. Of course like all media, the user must possess a discriminating mind.

In all honesty, I don’t...

I began watching The Young Turks because they were a refreshingly honest news outlet, providing a much needed non-mainstream bias to the American news.

However, they have become far more strident in their opinions as of late, culminating in the forming of the Wolf-PACs. They have effectively stopped being a news outlet and become agitators instead.

I find myself agreeing with most of the points that they make. But I must admit that I find the changed tone of their show quite disturbing...

I stopped watching them when they referred to a bill as a GOP plan to kill the post office.
Never mind the only opposition to the bill was from the GOP and more Democrats voted for it then the Republicans. It was a GOP bill.

There's no doubt that the internet can help spread the word. What is needed is an interested following to heed the message. The internet might not have been the key to the Libyan revolution, but it did help get the message out.

I don't think the OWS movement has the following to succeed as a movement. No amount of internet is going to help that.

You must have seen another show than I did then. They certainly never struck me as "smug, self-absorbed assholes who mock people who think something different". Indeed, if they mock anyone it's those who blindly follow the mainstream medie and not those who "think something different".

I didn't even watch. The Google search result was a massive turnoff. Calling your own show "smart" is nothing more than an effort to try to sell the show to people who want to feel "smart", and require a media product to tell them that they are.
