Although I wouldn't doubt the LRAD, the report of "snipers" seems extremely farfetched, and bring credibility into question. Nobody would be insane, or stupid, enough to bring in snipers in this event.
That all said, what's Bloomberg's reasoning? I'm guess it's a tad strategic, considering winter is just around the corner, and getting rid of all the amenities is going to make life miserable. Or so the thought goes.

I don't think there would be much point to snipers in this situation anyway...Sounds like somebody's just trying to be dramatic.
And yeah, that's probably the idea. Hopefully they can get enough donations to occupy the area again. Just to spite the NY administration.
