And I disagree with their interpretation. The activists on the ship came ready for a fight, and they started it. If they're upset with how it ended up, too bad.

The footage released vindicates the commandos by showing that the "activists" were preparing for a fight with weapons hours before the raid. And that they attacked first. And that the captain of the ship asked them to stop resisting.

Because it's a minority group that wants independence and sees the modernisations as attempts at Turkifiying the population, isn't that obvious? How would you feel if some guy came into your house and started replacing all your furniture with furniture he liked, rather than yourself? You'd be mad as hell. I'm not going to say I agree with what the Kurds are doing, but I can certainly sort of see why they'd react in that fashion.
