Macintosh is a fine northeastern variety in North America; the original tree which sired them all just dies this summer. They are nice and crisp, a good balance of sweet and tart, decent size, the core not too big (unlike "Delicious" apples), streaked green and red.

Jonathans are another variety local to the area. Jonamac is a hybrid.
