He does also prophecise the creation of a 'Greater Frozen Republic', the porn industry getting bigger than the US economy, Cuba having a 'we still exist' party, Gaddafi founding a burger chain, and the ESA launching astronauts into space. I might as well dig out my Nostradamus-based prophecy of a devastating war between Wales and Germany.

I feel like there is already a thread like this...

oh well, here's my two cents (again)

Between 2011- 2016

Obama reelected in 2012, Tea Party causes split within Republican Party between Moderates and Hardliners. USA becomes a tri-partisan system (since GOP splits).

Egypt becomes politically unstable.

Syria and Yemen descend into civil war, Libyan rebels form new government, Moammar Gadhafi executed. Some of Gadhafi's sons lead an insurgency. Following a long period of fighting, Syria is absorbed by Turkish government.

Greece, Ireland and Portugal are expelled from the Eurozone.

Kim Jong Il dies, and Kim Jong Un becomes leader of North Korea.

Israel bombs Iranian nuclear facilities, results in brief but important regional war (Israel/USA/NATO vs Iran/Lebanon/Syria/Hezbollah/Hamas, etc. Oil prices skyrocket, and the west begins to see urgency of renewable energy.

Quebec becomes independent.

Abkhazia and South Ossetia are absorbed into Russian Federation. Russian Federation makes alliance with Germany, NATO weakens as a result (and thus USA's influence in Europe diminishes). USA makes alliance with Poland to counterbalance the Russo-German alliance.

Union of Russia and Belarus becomes fully fledged nation state, Kazakhstan added soon after.

Between 2016 and 2024

New cold war between Union of Russia/Belarus/Kazakhstan and the United States. NATO splits, with many nations falling under the orbit of Russian influence (Germany, Greece, Eastern Europe except for Poland and Baltic States)

Russian sponsored coup in Georgia results in the overthrow of Western-friendly government. Georgian Civil war follows as loyalists to the old regime fight against Russia's proxies. Russia may become involved militarily.

China and Taiwan reunify under a system similar to that with Hong Kong.

Natural resource shortage prompts a war in the South China sea over it's lucrative resources (Vietnam/US/Philippines vs. China/Taiwan). Russia verbally supports China but doesn't get involved. People fear WWIII, but fighting remains regional. China loses and surrenders it's claim to the South China sea, forced to pay reparations.

A powerful Turkey plays kingmaker between Russia and the USA, forces Russia to allow Turkish forces to annex Armenia. Azerbaijan and Turkey attempt to united, but Russia sponsors insurgents to fight against Turkish rule.

North Korea falls apart. Brief Civil war and chaos followed by South Korean intervention. South Korea annexes North Korea; Korea unified.

China worried about Unified Korea and strengthened Vietnam, US and allies losing influence in Europe but gaining it in Asia. China remains an obstacle. Japan becomes more assertive against China, alliance with Korea and Vietnam. China forced to strengthen alliance with Russia for protection.

Between 2025- 2032
Still working on it

2012- Unemployment hits 12%. Gas prices hit $5 a gallon. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is forced to resign, after an extremely unpopular stimulus bill. Tea Partiers, angered by supposedly being ignored, start to riot. The National Guard is called in to stop the riots. Barack Obama, with an approval rating of 32%, is defeated by a Rick Perry/Michele Bachmann ticket, Republicans take the Senate. Fringe is canceled, I cry.
2013- President Perry, with an approval rating of 74%, proceeds to cut public benefits, Social Security, Medicare, etc; but refuses to touch military spending. ObamaCare is repealed. A balanced budget amendment passes both houses of Congress, but dies in the New England states. Unemployment dips below 10%, but not much. A new X-Files movie comes out. Bachmann embarrasses self, nation.
2014- Angered by the entitlement cuts, senior citizens, youth, and minorities vote Democratic in droves. Perry's approval rating hits 38%. Unemployment goes to 14%. China, finally fed up with the United States' petty bickering, refuses to buy any more bonds, jacks up the interest rate 10%. All the other credit rating agencies downgrade U.S debt. The stock market crashes again. The riots start again, but due to the spending cuts, they are much worse than before.
2016- Hillary Clinton mounts a strong campaign for President, but is forced to drop out because of the death of her husband (sorry, Bill). Perry loses the White House. Unemployment lowers slightly to 11%.
2017- The new president (I'll call him Joe) finally starts to fix the enormous mess the US is in; by reforming Social Security, not destroying it. Joe implements a five year plan to reduce what then is a $19 trillion dollar debt. Joe then withdraws soldiers from all over the world, to high popular opinion. Unemployment finally drops below 8% for the first time in almost ten years. The stock market spikes.
That's all I can think of.

Sibirsky wrote:It's notoriously hard to make predictions of any meaning. Consider the following.

In 1900 London was the capital of the world. Europe ruled the eastern hemisphere. Europe was at peace, and enjoying unprecedented prosperity. European nations were interdependent on each other due to massive trade and investments. Very serious people claimed that war in Europe was no longer possible, due to the trade, investment and interdependence that has created. The most logical prediction of the time would be that a peaceful, prosperous Europe would rule the world.

Fast forward 20 years. Europe has been torn apart by what was thought to be impossible. Millions had died. The Austro-Hungarian, Russian, German and Ottoman empires were gone. The was ended when a million Americans intervened. The United States and Japan emerged as great powers. Russia was now dominated by socialism, and it was hard to tell if it could survive. The peace treaty imposed on Germany was a recipe for one very easy prediction. Germany would not emerge as a great military and economy power any time soon.

20 more years. Not only did Germany reemerge as a great power, it conquered France and dominated Europe. The Soviet Union, still socialist, survived and was allied with Nazi Germany. Great Britain stood alone against Germany. To any reasonable person, the war was over. Prediction? Germany would dominate Europe for the next century or more.

Fast forward another two decades. Germany had been crushed in that war. Europe was split between the US and the USSR. European empires were collapsing. The US, and the USSR were competing to become the next superpower. The US, dominated the oceans, and had a nuclear arsenal to annihilate anyone in a matter of hours. The cold war, was heating up.

Two more decades. The United States had just lost a seven year war. Not to the Soviet Union but to North Vietnam. It had been kicked out from Iran, and it's oil wells looked certain to fall into Soviet hands. The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, and occupied Kabul in just two days. It was surging, and the United States was in decline.

A couple of more decades. The surging Soviet Union has completely collapsed. China is now a capitalist nation. NATO has advanced it's reach into Eastern Europe.

I see where you got that from Sibirsky :/

I'll go beyond 20. I'll do 10000.

2525: In the year 2525, if man is still alive, and if woman can survive, they may find the following:
In the year 3535, you will not need to tell the truth, nor tell any lies. Everything you think, do and say is in a pill that you took earlier on in the day.
In the year 4545, you will need neither your teeth or eyes. You will not need to chew anything, and no one will look at you.
In the year 5555, your arms will be hanging limp at your sides, and your legs will have nothing to do because a machine is performing those functions for you.
In the year 6565, you will need neither a husband nor a wife. You will choose your children from the bottom of long glass tubes.
In the year 7510, assuming the existence of a God, he should have come down by then. He may or may not look around himself and say that it is time for the judgement day.
In the year 8510, once again assuming the existence of a God, he will shake his mighty head and say that he is pleased with mankind or destroy the earth and begin again.
In the year 9595, you will be wondering if man is still alive. He will have taken all of the natural resources from the earth and put back nothing.
Around the year 12000, man will have cried a billion tears for what he never knew about his sad fate. Now his reign will be over. But some of the light from stars reaching earth may have begun its journey yesterday.

2012- Obama is re elected as president of the United States and republicans take huge losses in the Senate, House, and most state governments. The Democrats become stronger, bolder, and less bipartisan.

These type of threads are awesome, its great pulling dates and events out of thin air.

2012 - Stuff happens but no the apocalypse doesn't. Jan 1 2013 many people around the globe are very disappointed for many reasons. 2012 was a year of great disappoint.
2013-2023 - US economy is still crap, riots break out around the world but the news fails to report it. Great Depression 2.0 but is never called so. Hobos come back in style.
2023- Tech development had been slow but starts to speed up again as the economy recovers. A cheap, single CPU that is a viable replacement for multi-cores finally hits consumers.
