Should the distribution of wealth in the US be more like that in Sweden?

I am a US American and I would prefer the Swedish wealth distribution to the US one.

Before you look at this, bear in mind that the online version is not necessarily "cold canvassed" ... a lot of the respondents would already know the answer from watching the show or indeed reading the page it is on. Here is the quiz that PBS gave to people on the street.

Now, PBS's "research" on the street was completely unscientific. But on their site they link to the study by Michael Norton and Dan Ariely, which is pretty damn scientific.

Here's a link to the pdf from Harvard Business School's site.

92% of Americans, when choosing between the actual wealth distribution of the United States and that of Sweden (without knowing which is which) actually prefer Sweden.

As far as I can tell, the study does not say what proportion of people actually think they're living in Sweden (wealth-distribution wise).

What is it with you and Sweden? I remember last time you were telling us how America "is Sweden's Mexico."

Living in Sweden?
You might want to wait until the douchebag on the left is not in power anymore.

That will hopfully transpire after the swedish general election, September 14, 2014.
You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded. Because the elements, the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars. And the only way they could get into your body is if the stars were kind enough to explode.

So forget Jesus. The stars died so you could be here today.

Listen, you can find all kind of statistics on how Sweden is better than the U.S, but it is better to use standard versions, like the HDI index without the tampering.

"Better" is not a quantitative term.
US statistics are guaranteed to be, in search of a better word, really screwed. We have some really horrible areas, and we have great areas. And honestly, I prefer it here. Mostly because I live in a great area. If Sweden is better, why does it have more alcoholism and suicide? Those are generally aggravating factors of a not so great place.
However, it is not my place to judge. I have never been to Sweden.

Uhmm, I was supporting the U.S, but what ever.

I think the U.S and Sweden is similar in how it is to live there, but Swedish cities often look shitty, I think immigration have taken its toll on cities like Göteborg and Malmö. Ive been both places. And I have been to Sweden atleast a hundred times.

The real point is that you singled US citizens out as people who would not understand something correctly if given insufficient information.
