I gave up on playing the acoustic and electric. I wasn't improving anyway...

I play the violin, does that count? It's an orchestra instrument, not band.

Damn, all my band mates must be asleep right now. No one is here to congratulate on my win. :(

But...

Sure, you can be in band. Just do what orchestra people do, play the marimba.

Another hollow victory for my band. Expect all awards in Class A, and receive all the awards in Class A. However, at Northwestern (where the competition was held) our band came in 2nd, beating out 5 AA bands that are good as well.

From what I can tell, people on NS either play saxophone or a low brass instrument. Then there are the other, lesser instruments.

But, anybody back from a competition today?

It was not very good for our chops I'll give you that. But it was mostly fun and it was all great for publicity for the university.

Uhm no can't say I have. My High-school marching band sucked so I never really got into it. We actually only started competing again my junior and senior years so you should know how good that would make us....

Well...My band has continued to get better for the past 6 years or so. I joined as a Freshman in 09' (it was a transition year to greater things). Some of our band's firsts that year: Grand Champion at an MSBA, compete in BOA regional, get into BOA regional finals, and getting tons of first in class trophies. This year, so far, we have been undefeated in our class (A), knock out many AA bands (especially Springsboro and Dublin-Jerome), and getting a Grand Champion at an OMEA. Weird thing is that we are usually great in music, but do meh in visuals. Now it's flip flopped. Crazy times I live in. I'll post a recent show soon. We just killed on Saturday.

I've been playing tuba for 6 years. I consider myself above-average but not exceptionally talented.

I'm in the Coppell High School Marching Band (5A Dallas, Texas area school). We are actually quite good. We got 3rd place (bronze medal yuhhh!) in the state of Texas my freshman year and got 5th place last year (but 2nd at prelims). That's saying something since Texas is probably the most challenging state. Our first contest of this year is next Saturday.

Bitch please. Indiana and Ohio are the hardest states to compete in. In Cincinnati-Dayton corridor, there is Centerville High School and Mason High School, both get in to BOA National Finals. Oh, and Indianapolis has Carmel High School and Avon High School, both have won BOA National many times.

Oh, and my band can beat bands 2-3 times its size.

Marching bands rock hard.
I'm having to cut out of Friday afternoon lectures to go back home to take part in National Finals :3

I play lead (mostly, this year) baritone. UK marching bands, btw.
