Winning first in the state. Yet to happen, but unelikely anymore. For three years in a row, we were in the top three. Last year, we were #10. Now, I suspect we'll drop lower as we're smaller, and the freshmen are dumbasses. I may try out for the local DCA drum corps next year, probably on Baritone though. Contra would be too heavy.

My band got straight 1's at OMEA for the past 4 years (that's the best you can do). Only 4 other bands (in Class A) in Ohio got that. I wish there was a state title. But Mason or Centerville would take it, every year. And yes, the freshman in my band are stupid. I can't even think who will be section leader in two years. It worries me greatly.

As for the Drum Corp, which one? I know some people that want to march with the Cavilers or Blue Devils. But where is your local Drum Corp?

I'm a trombone player, and I can attest that if you lube up your 'boner and go play with it for a while, blowing on that sucker nice and hard, there's soon going to be some white stuff spurting from the tip.

Also, late games fucking suck. Last week my high school played the back part of a doubleheader. Report time to the band room was 6:30, but we didn't even get to the stadium until about 9:00. Thanks to a ton of passing, we didn't even march our show until 11:30 PM, and got home at 1:30. When you leave for a game on Friday, and come back on Saturday, something is very wrong. Anyone else here hate these?

Tomorrow I have a competition about an hour and a half away. Awards will start at 10:30 and we'll be lucky to get out by 11. We're probably getting out at around 11:30. So yeah, back at 1am on Sunday.

But why would the game start at 9pm? Was it an away game? Did someone screw up the schedule? What is going on?

One of the Tubas here can play a chord on their tuba. It's produced by singing into the tuba and playing a note at the same time. It's extremely difficult to do.

Actually, they are made out of synthetics. Well, at least some of them, the ones used for marching are. The concert ones are wood. So, burn a wooden clarinet and snap a plastic clarinet in twain.

It's played at home. In Boise, none of the four area high schools have their own football stadiums since three of them were built before 1965. They all play home games at Bronco Stadium. Odds are each week that two of them have a home game, so they are forced to do double-headers. For some reason, the first game starts at a normal time; 6 PM, so the second game doesn't kick off until 9. Just our luck that we've got late games in two straight weeks; fortunately, there is no more of those for the rest of the year.

I'm going taking a nap now and getting some rest in, going to be a horribly long night.

I had a football game yesterday, too, roasting in the sun. At least they let us take off the shakos and gloves in the stands. Also, when we finished our halftime show, we and the visiting school's band went back to the school and had a party throughout the third quarter :)

Heh. We don't put on our full uniforms until the 17th. And all our games start in the evening.

Yes, we've established this.

Also, my first competition tomorrow. We usually compete in AA but now we are competing in A, the lesser class. I expect my band to bring all the first place trophies for Class A and get 3rd or 2nd overall (Fucking Fairfield, man).

Got back from a competition about an hour ago. We won in class A, best visual, general effect, auxiliary, and percussion. We also got 1st in class A. But, we beat Fairfield (a good band) and got Grand Champion. It feels good to bring home some hardware.
