Winning first in the state. Yet to happen, but unelikely anymore. For three years in a row, we were in the top three. Last year, we were #10. Now, I suspect we'll drop lower as we're smaller, and the freshmen are dumbasses. I may try out for the local DCA drum corps next year, probably on Baritone though. Contra would be too heavy.Soxastan wrote:Here's a question for the marching people; What has been your proudest moment in your marching career?

Maybe dragons took their jobs. Maybe unicorns only hid their jobs because unicorns are dicks. Maybe 'jobs' is only an illusion created by a drug addled infant pachyderm. Fuck dude, if we're in 'maybe' land, don't hold back.

Do you know that "lubing up your slide" is important for a healthy 'boner?
Can you do it in 7 valve combinations and slide positions (8 if you like it on the floor)?
Do your lips double as a vibrator?
And please, blowing hard? We blow until our lips crack and we're panting for breath.
Besides, saxophones are hardly even phallic.

Tampa Bay Thunder. It's DCA. Someone from my band in it last year is trying out for Boston this year.Soxastan wrote:Was 1st chair Alto in Concert Band. Now I'm 1st Barri Sax in Wind Ensemble. But Mason or Centerville would take it, every year. And yes, the freshman in my band are stupid. I can't even think who will be section leader in two years. It worries me greatly.Auremena wrote:Winning first in the state. Yet to happen, but unelikely anymore. For three years in a row, we were in the top three. Last year, we were #10. As for the Drum Corp, which one? I know some people that want to march with the Cavilers or Blue Devils. But where is your local Drum Corp?

Can't hear you over our saxyness.
We can finger really fast, and smooth and make it look easy.
We have a little saying in our section, When in doubt, pull out.
And, Push it in if you're flat.
Dude. My section has a gay guy in it. Innuendos 24/7.

I just can't hear you. Because we're low brass, and you're woodwinds.
So do we, but we like to liberally apply oil first.
Have you tried the euphonium? You'll be groaning and panting and sweating after just a few sets, because you're just a saxophone.
The thickest (see what I did there?) innuendos are laid on by the female 'boners.
Also, we can keep going even if things get a little wet.

Lol, I'll just let go of my instrument and take a break.

Also, late games fucking suck. Last week my high school played the back part of a doubleheader. Report time to the band room was 6:30, but we didn't even get to the stadium until about 9:00. Thanks to a ton of passing, we didn't even march our show until 11:30 PM, and got home at 1:30. When you leave for a game on Friday, and come back on Saturday, something is very wrong. Anyone else here hate these?

Tomorrow I have a competition about an hour and a half away. Awards will start at 10:30 and we'll be lucky to get out by 11. We're probably getting out at around 11:30. So yeah, back at 1am on Sunday.
But why would the game start at 9pm? Was it an away game? Did someone screw up the schedule? What is going on?

I had a football game yesterday, too, roasting in the sun. At least they let us take off the shakos and gloves in the stands. Also, when we finished our halftime show, we and the visiting school's band went back to the school and had a party throughout the third quarter
Heh. We don't put on our full uniforms until the 17th. And all our games start in the evening.
For reference, here is a picture of me showing off my uniform, which was new last year:
BARITONES!Your school's shakos are better than mine: you have an actual crest on them. Ours are mirrors in a nice arrangement.
