"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.

On the History Channel, one of the shows called Ancient Aliens says that a lot of structures were built by aliens.

They are a bunch of communists if they are nudging us because we are slowly becoming a bunch of socialists.

Anyone read Enchantress from the stars? Its about the clash of three civilizations. 1. who are still on swords, blows and arrows 2. the Imperials who are coming to colonize the planet and put all the locals in reservations (they don't see the locals as people) and 3. the federation, they watch all the other civilizations and want to stop the Imperials from taking the planet from the other "younglings". They could fight the imperials and win but they want as little bloodshed as possible.

During the whole story civilization 1 (the people being colonized) are completely oblivious to everything that is happening. They are aware of one imperial machine but they think it's a dragon.

Thousands upon thousand of man-hours using basic instrumentation to measure and dilineate the exact needs, and then the use of (relatively) basic mathematics to near-precisely determine the size/shape/what-have you needed for whatever was being built.
Don't underestimate the ingenuity and resourcefulness of humanity, "Ancient Aliens" is an interesting theory, but one with little to no concrete evidence to this point.

As to what happens if we discover human life, it depends. The first thing that strikes me would be how the Catholic/Religion of your choice church would respond. Would these alien beings somehow be incorporated into dogma or what? Be interesting to hear the pope's response in such a situation.

I don't underestimate the human race, because my brother always underestimates me. I believe that aliens (as said by my friend) took so long to build the structures on purpose to make it look like humans did it and then took their stuff back to their planet.

Most of us already figure they're out there anyway.

So what's the big deal?

Just about every political party puts increasing space budgets in their manifestos. None do it. Everyone gets back to some pointless, irrelevant argument whilst those of us that can do maths look up briefly, say "well, obviously" and keep going.

C.S. Lewis, noted Christian apologist, believed in alien life and wrote stirringly about it.

Maybe back in 1850 the insights of geology and astronomy could assault the foundations of faith, but not today.

Not for thoughtful believers anyway.

I think the discovery of (sentient) alien life would scare the hell out of a lot of people. It would be very hard on our collective ego. Because if aliens exist, it means the entirety of creation doesn't revolve around us. Humans are just another animal species. We're nothing special.
I think younger people, and people in developed cultures who've read science fiction books and seen films and television dealing with the concept would be able to handle the idea a lot better.
Some repressive governments and religious leaders might try to conceal the discovery from their subjects, or tell them it's just American propaganda that we made up to make them doubt their faith or ideology.

Nope. We would've noticed a bunch of skeletons and weapons and so on. So yeah. We didn't and came to the conclusion that they just disappeared somehow. I say aliens abducted them. Except maybe a few because they have descendants.

I love you Joan, but no matter how "thoughtful" you are, insights into geology, biology, astronomy, archeology, theological history, philosophy, neurology, cosmology, etc. etc. all point to either A) An apethetic God that created the universe, but then left, so you still base your actions on secular logic.
Or...
B) That the concept of God and other dieties were a way for primitive peoples to explain what they did not understand, so that they could live their lives without the constant psycological feeling of anxiety that they couldn't explain something, completely shaped and invented by man-kind that changes with the times, always dogging behind a couple of steps, but never being completely dropped.

If you like that comfort, fine. But I prefer knowledge over comfort.

Actually evidence is that they abandoned their cities for an unknown reason, and speculating without physical evidence is not exactly professional.
