Could you explain how it will lead to disaster without using scenarios that the EU literally exists entirely to prevent?

That's it. The EU won't work because Europe is too divided and has too many conflicting interests. Look at the UK, one of the 'leaders' of the EU, and the citizens of Britain don't even want to join up with the EU.

Uh, yeah, they do.

They consistently vote for pro-EU parties at European parliamentary elections.

If that's not saying that they're pro-EU, I don't know what is.

No one said it's going to become the United States of Europe within the next 40 years or so. Honestly, I think that it'll just stay as an international union.

Why must you crush my federalist dreams?

Anyway, the goal of the EU was always to become a federation. Ever since its conception in the '50s.

I think that Unified Europe is a good idea, but it just isn't feasible at this time and age. Maybe in a hundred years or so, if Earth is existing by then.

I hate the EU, it's morally self-righteous yet totally undemocratic, it pretends to be fair and just, yet the German taxpayer is forced to pay for Greek stupidity. It allows immigrants to run rampant throughout European nations, yet indigenous Europeans are treated as second class citizens.

It's an abomination and I can't wait for it to be gone forever.

Like I said, it's done very well for 60 years.

In the European Parliament, only 7.5% are eurosceptic. A further 7.5% are anti-federalist.

That gives you 85% of MEPs not minding a confederation or a federation.

It arguably already is a confederation.

Why? If you told people in 1871 that we would all be friends and told them about the Franco-German bridage they would have probably laughed their asses off. In the 1950s, France and the UK nearly became one. Is it really that inconcievabe that things will continue to "improve"?

Source?

Honestly, the European Parliament is elected by the people of the nations in question. So it's pretty democratic.
