Meaning even though its possible you'd have to be a dunce to believe it.

Non sequitur. People on this forum, yourself included have offered up Bachmann's husband's conduct as indicative of her own beliefs about how homosexuality should be "treated." I have pointed out that the former is not necessarily indicative of the latter. Now, do you have an actual argument in favor of your initial position?

Seriously? She publicly stated that he was her leader in all things, and that she submitted to him in every way, him being her owner master husband and all.

By the way, I really love how the religious right sees marriage. Honor and Obey for the women, since it's not like they could possibly do anything themselves; hell, they don't even get to decide how their bodies are used by other organisms, why should they get to decide whether or not they can leave the kitchen?

So you admit to negligently endangering a public servant?

I admit I'm a minor.
I win.

But to be somewhat serious, I wasn't there to see it happen... bummer.

With a throwaway non-sequitur... not convinced.

Non-sequitur? I responded by pointing out (rightly) that such submission need not suggest her acceptance of any of her husbands positions or actions. So, do you have any actual argument in favor of your positions?

Irrelevant

Apollonesia wrote: Why should gays be allowed to wed in a CHURCH?

Because a church would preside over a wedding for them.

Apollonesia wrote: That would then infringe upon the rights of those who are against gay marriage.

I fail to see how two homosexuals wedding in, say, a Unitarian Universalist Church would be a violation of your "rights". In fact, I fail to see how you can have the right to dictate religion upon others. Could it be this concern over "religious rights" be nothing but a veil to violate the religious liberties of others? Very apparent from your speech.

That respect should not be tied to one's title? What isn't ideal about the destruction of the pitiful degradation of man through the paid obeisance to a scrap of paper and a few words added before or after a name?

Fuck, I sound like a whiny anarchist.

Titles don't magically arise from nothing. You become a representative because of your actions. It definitely means something beyond empty words.

Ultimately, it boils down to humility. This guy made himself appear as if he presumes himself to be better than Bachmann, due to arbitrary reasons. It just so happens most people agree with those many, and weighty reasons. But it's conceited nonetheless.

I consider myself better than Bachmann. Doubly so now that she's proven herself unable to deal with a single heckler without running to her room. I don't get what the obsession with humility is. Why do you consider it such a good thing to consider oneself in a lesser position than one actually is?

Wrong. In democracies certain titles arise from popular mandate. They are, consequently, indicative of public trust.

It's not a matter of considering yourself lesser, but not inflating yourself to a position where you don't belong.

Not at all. Giving vitriol back to those who give you vitriol teaches them that you aren't some meek lamb awaiting the slaughter. It sends a message, it says "We're not going to stand to be belittled and insulted without reaction."
