24 states have anti-gay legislation in place. Another 7 don't recognise same-sex relationships in any way, shape or form (aka no same sex de facto relationships are recognised). Only six states, plus DC, allow for same-sex marriages, while 8 allow for a civil union/recognise out of state marriages. That's 14 states out of 50 who either don't discriminate or mostly don't discriminate against same-sex couples. I'd say that that's quite a bit of discrimination.

That said, the level of discrimination has no bearing on the fact that I have provided you with the requested source, while you have not reciprocated. Either provide a source in your reply to my post, or admit that gays weren't offered the exact same deal as heterosexual couples, but refused it.

So discrimination is okay, as long as we only discriminate against minorities.
This is just getting better and better.

They get their hands on weapons and guns anyways.
Should I explain how this discrimination contributes to people developing more severe mental illnesses.

Yes. Stopping the mentally ill from having guns worsens their condition. Instead, of, you know, reducing the risk of them shooting themselves and all.

Restricting the mentally ill from owning guns is discrimination that people accept and are fine with.(most would not consider it discrimination)

Because the mentally ill carrying guns is a threat to public safety. How is gays having equal rights a threat to anyone other than the bigots and homophobes like you who just can't stand to see someone who doesn't fit into your narrow world view being treated as equal?

When you say "AS a mentally ill person", is that supposed to mean "I am a mentally ill person"? Because that would explain a lot.

No, no. You're the one trying to disprove the commonly held belief that gays are still widely discriminated against.

You need to provide the evidence. Burden of proof works that way.

If they got the same things, then how is that different from them getting the exact same thing?

And, by your lack of a source, can I take it that you have no evidence to back up your assertions? If so, give us a link. If not, then I'm going to regard this battle as having won by myself and everyone who doesn't think that gays turned down something that would have given them the same rights as a heterosexual couple.
