I'd take some of Benjamin Franklin's research notes on electricity to some Roman scholars.

I'd take Sten guns back to the Roman Empire, and avoid a millennium and a half of the civilised world sinking back into barbarism.

I was thinking giving them the formula for gunpowder.
I'm a chemist... which maybe is kind of cheating. With a little experimentation to get proportions right, I don't doubt I could concoct gunpowder recipes... just based on what I know of history and chemistry.
Sten guns though... simple to mass produce, little complexity in assembly. A little 20th century know-how, and the 9th Legion are carrying submachine guns.

And they would somehow understand it all?

Then I'd go to the Norse and instruct them in the building of said technologies, starting with firearms and working up from there. This would give the Vikings the technological advantage they need to conquer the world and shape the entirety of human civilization in their own image.

I'd make them understand, dammit.![]()
But, in seriousness, I would probably take at least part of the necessary pieces to understand it or something relatively simple...I think they might be able to manage flight with the knowledge of aerodynamics and lift. *shrugs* I did say there were too many paradoxes anyway.

Yeah, I always take Michio Kaku's stance on time travel.![]()
I would probably bring some ancient culture the fundamentals of our modern civilization. Something that is attainable and sustainable for even them.
