Seriously, though, this was a horrible event. I guess what we need to do now is bury the dead and take extra security precautions to insure it does not happen again.

We have to ensure that one billion people will not be blamed on, because of the actions of a single bastard or a little group of them.

This type of actions are very diffult to prevent. One single insane can kill dozens of people. It's the same that happened in the USA at Oklahoma City or at Columbine. The difference is that this island is isolated and the police arrived very, very late.

About the police...Norway does not exactly have a military industrial complex. If it happened here in the US, he would probably get taken out by a predator drone within minutes.

No it would be to accuse GOP of being Third Way(which they are). There are no parties in Norway that are against multiculturalism.

Kystpartiet are against multiculturalism. Senterpartiet is also going in that direction again, against multiculturalism, with deputy Chairman Ola Borten Moe (current Oil and Energy minister), and many others who believe multicultrualism has failed. My two favourite parties :)

Most people don't live the way Jesus taught, yet you're probably happy to call most people who claim to be Christians what they claim to be. You only refuse in this case because you disagree with how he failed to act like Jesus.

Also, no true Scotsman fallacy etc.

Now I remember why I try to avoid General. It's because when somebody perverts the beliefs of a group, more often then not a religious group, all the self-justified atheists come out of the woodwork and use it as an argument against religion.

You read that as an argument against religion?

I thought the point was that most of the people decrying someone as 'not a real Christian', actually adhere to the scriptural principles of Christianity pretty poorly, themselves. (One assumes this also holds true in other religions). That's not an argument against religion - it's an argument against the No True Scotsman fallacy.

Religion itself doesn't kill, though. Religion by and large, to the vast majority of people, is just another part of their life. I have a hard time believing that religion itself is to blame. It wasn't religion that set off a car bomb or took guns to a youth camp. It was Anders Behring Breivik.

Though I don't think this is the greatest tragedy of 2011. While a catastrophe, the earthquake and tsunami in Japan was much worse.
