Grammar Nazis Suck... That Is All

Grammar nazis are invariably as bigoted and ignorant as their historical namesakes. English, thank God, has no government institution to regulate how we should and should not speak. English grammar is our common heritage, it belongs to everyone of us to use in any way we see fit. There is so much more I'd like to say about this topic, but suffice it to say, Grammar Nazis do indeed suck!

English has no government institution, but the MLA likes to think that it's a pretty good standard setter.

I support grammar nazis in their persecution of those with poor linguistic hygiene, especially in the case of monolingual, native English speakers over the age of 18. There's no excuse for writing like a retarded child in the only language you know, if you're literate, unless you actually are a retarded child.

I disagree. It's polite on a discussion forum to endeavour to your greatest ability to make your comments readily comprehensible. If you don't get the basics right it shows a lack of respect and damages your credibility. Folks are entitled to mock, sorry.
