You have ignorance. So you need sarcasm.

Not really. I say I want a drink, they say "what", I say "A Fanta"

So no. Saying a soda on the other hand will, because nobody will know what you want and you'll be wasting their precious time rather than tell you what you want within that fancy category of soda's.

I usually say the brand name, as in Sprite, Coke (Coca Cola), I usually say Soda, as in Orange Soda and in a sentence, "May I get some soda?"

I say Coke for Coca Cola and Pepsi, Soda for Orange and other types of carbonated drinks and I use pop for nothing, I use brand names for most sodas

In general, it's always a 'soda' to me, although I prefer to refer to it by the actual names. I get irked when people refer to it as pop, and I live in the Midwest.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

It was an expression, I believe. I doubt Coke actually dissolves rust. But what is scary is the effect it has on teeth.

You are, of course, aware that the human stomach acids are far, far more powerful than anything in Coca-Cola, right?

Yes.

Unless of course it's not OK for a woman to ask for a female to ask for a female officer to carry out body checks. In which case, the answer would be no.

Don't be ridiculous (too late, I know... "stop" being ridiculous.) In this case, you are calling the beverage "a drink". If I say "I want a soda." and a friend responded "What?" I would respond with the specific kind of soda.

Really, I cannot believe this needed to be explained.

Yes, I am. I'm just not comfortable drinking something that dissolves rust. I know stomach acids are bad, but at least they are inside of you because your body produces them.

True. I avoid excess amounts of that too (actually any amount, but whatever).

But Coke makes it a lot harder to keep your teeth in good shape.
