Let's be realistic: when it comes to blows, "fairness" only exists in fiction and sport. If I'm hitting you, then the whole point is to inflict maximum damage on your person while avoiding it myself, not to ensure my fist is comfortable against your face. I don't think that they entitle someone to inherent respect. Being a human beings entitles you to common courtesy, though, which includes not being randomly bopped.

Personally, I just avoid hitting anyone; if I actually have a reason to be hitting someone (like self-defense) then at that point gender has ceased to be relevant there, anyway.
