Europe combined has a larger population and GDP than America (lower per capita but we have got a lot of Eastern Europe to drag along a while).

All of Europe together has a population of some 730 million.

Not including the Russians it's something like 580 million.

I personally believe that Germany, South Korea, India, France, Canada should come before Russia. It is a weak state now.

Larger population, no doubt. But, Europe barely has a bigger GDP.

Barely? Just the European Union has a larger nominal GDP by about $2 trillion, IIRC. And almost half of European countries aren't in the EU.

Silly. Of course that's not true.

I'd say USA and EU are equally powerful, yet they are both dying.
On the other hand there is quite a bright future for China and Japan.

Because one country is nearly richer than all of Europe. And it's 27.

I'm shocked too, but France is
1. More energy efficient
2. Has a greater trade surplus
3. Has... argh *rubs brow*... a good military *gags*

Why "argh *rubs brow* ... a good military *gags*"? France has traditionally had a decent military. The Franks conquered Western Europe(though, due to the instability at the time it might not be such a huge feat), France controlled western Europe for quite some time, was practically the leader of the Crusades, Napoleon Bonaparte are all shows of great military might. Sure, they got conquered in two WW's, but that doesn't mean they can't rise out of their slump.

Aye, true that. To my knowledge the population was smaller, growing less quickly, and they were generally less dynamic than the Teutons.

It's not about states, it's about networks of power elites (decision makers), which transcend nations more and more as time goes on.

Russia at best qualifies for third. France or Britain are for more deserving of the #2 spot than Russia. Not just for having superior equipment, but for actually have trained forces. The morale of the Russian army is shit, and they are made up of mostly conscripts.

I'd say that list is about right. China and Russia could tie for third, but I'd say that the U.K. is pretty influential.
