I'm not a creationist by any means, but evolution has a lot of holes in theory.

So life sprang out of lifeless organic chemicals all the sudden? How did that happen? It cannot be replicated in a lab, dispite many attempts to create life from nothing.

Ok, let's assume thats how it went down, random molecules and chemical elements magically arranged itself into life. Then that primitive lifeform eventiually evolved into us. Hmm.

I say, in a very fundamental way, the basis of evolution is just about as far-fetched and fantastic as saying that God made people out of clay.

1) Actually that is precisely what happens all the time. Take a loaf of bread. Leave it out for a month. It goes mouldy aka what you call 'life from nothing' is actually bacteria growing....so your point is that something that can be replicated in a lab cannot, and we can't create life from 'nothing', please keep in mind that even under the big bang theory something came from something.

2) Evolution is not random at all. When there is evolutionary change it is in reaction to environmental or social changes. However creationists cannot get their head around this obvious fact, and so spend their time failing to disprove it.

3) If you believe in god, who is to say that god could not have made evolution? It is far more sensible than saying god made people out of clay, which is what creationists actually believe. Luckily there are some christian voices such as the Pope who kick creationists out of their offices and church's and quite sensibly prefer an evolution god made.

I already know that. But it is difficult to give a more speculative answer like "bacteria and other organisms can last for a long time even within asteroids and other rocks, thus it could even be likely that in the big bang process life already existed". Now that would kill their argument stone dead, sadly the scientific community has only just started such research.
