A dominant win from a flawless England, surely now to be regarded as tournament favourites.

It is this sort of rubbish why as much as I would like to see England win a tournament I want them it fail as soon as the fans start going on about them

Well, it was a brilliant save. Now, you see I think the ball should actually hit the ground past the line (or the net). However, unlike Neuer's save this was an honest save.

i just had a nightmare. i was trying to type up more posts for the nationstates.net forums but wayne rooney appeared and much like in the way he scores goals began to strategically placed his meaty head of above average size in front of all the keys as i attempted to type. i left and make sure i didn't make eye contact or make any sudden movements but he just kept following me putting his head in the way of everything. being a massive racist i deduced that perhaps he would be calmed by tea but he continued to put his head in the way as i filled the kettle put in teabags etc. but apparently he's irish and supports celtic. he's still here but i think we've become friends over our shared irish heritage and he's letting me post now.

It's official now (after a couple of months of just waiting for it to be official) - Drogba to Shanghai Shenhua FC. Anelka must've succeeded in luring his buddy to the far off mysterious East. Also, he's now the highest paid footballer in China.

Two year deal - so maybe we've not seen the last of him? My ever-so-slim hopes (not that it was anything but a pipe dream, really) of him coming to the MLS have not entirely failed me...

I'll pose this to you lot in general - if you were in Drogba's shoes, what would you have done?

I suspect that's very much the point. Drogba isn't a spring chicken anymore, and potent as he still is in front of goal, I'm not sure he has that much left in the old fuel tank. I reckon that's partly behind this switch - in China you can fade away off-camera, whereas in America you'll be scrutinized and expected to be an absolute superstar (like Becks, Henry, and now Robbie Keane).

The other part being the money, one would assume... as cynical as that is.

Then again, I could make a case for Drogba's move being partly because of Anelka's encouragement perhaps. It could be that he genuinely wants to help Chinese football grow. People criticised Beckham's move to MLS... and it does appear as though he meant it to some degree. I dunno. You're probably right though. Its hard to think anything beyond cynicism in regard to footballers these days, as much as I want to believe Drogba's reasons aren't money motivated, I just can't.

For the record, I f'n love Didier. Ever since he was at Marseille (my favourite French club).
