Russia did look quite good - but the Czech defenders also looked pretty bad. Out of place and too flat footed.

Dick Advocaat is still my favorite of the "mercenary" managers. I hope he does well in Eindhoven after this tourney.

I Didn't think Russia would score 4 goals the entire tourney. Might Russia be a dark horse?

They looked pretty good...shame the Czechs didn't quite contain them in the 1st half (I have to say this or the Prague football police will kick my head in) and then win it in the 2nd half.

Russia to win the group? Looks entirely plausible...

If they keep playing like they did today, then yes, I think they will.

I'm preparing for yet another dissappointment from England. We simply do not have the ability to accomplish anything.

I don't think they'll get much further past the group stage, I don't mean to sound like an asshole, but beating the Czechs and beating Germany/Spain/Holland/France are very different.

And America begins qualifying here in about 10 minutes, first match of their first round of qualifying. Easy competition in Antigua and Barbuda, but terrible weather. Still, if we don't win by two or three, I'll be disappointed.

Why the heck is the game at Raymond James stadium? Wouldn't a smaller stadium be a better idea?

One on each team got sent off. Papastathopoulos was given two soft yellow cards which resulted in his ejection from the game. The Polish keeper, Szczesny, later would deny an obvious scoring attempt and would get a red card.

US up 2-0... and it really should be about 4-0 5-0 at this point; they're just not finishing well. Seeing that it's basically rained for the better part of the last 3 days down here (I live south of Tampa) and knowing how RayJay Stadium is when it's wet, I'm not that suprised it's a bit hard to finish on that field.

2-1 Now.... A&B beat the US right at thier weakest point: Oguchi Onyewu. Seriously, Onyewu is a good player, but his brain-farts are getting annoying.

Yeah. But once Torres went off injured, it was either him or Parkhurst - even at his worst I'd take Gooch over Parkhurst.

More embarrassing is how bad Edu looked both in possession and distribution. He caused more trouble for the back four than A&B did.

Hey it could of been way worse for the United States. At least we did not lose to New Caledonia unlike New Zealand. And hopefully Torres's injury is not as worse as it looked. Onyewu does not look good enough to start against Guatemala.

If the US lost to NZ it would be worse than NZ losing to New Caledonia.

It went win, win, draw and loss. In conditions far removed from what we have at home pretty much all year round. However, that is just to say this:

2. I seem to remember not so long ago when a bunch of Germans were having nervous breakdowns in the stadium because the Italians showed them how to play football. Now, granted, England hasn't won anything for a very long time, but at least our fans don't do the wet snotty bawling when we go out in the semis.

Whatever though. German fans are best fans I suppose.
The kind of middle-class mentality which actuates both those responsible for strategy and government has little knowledge of the new psychology and organizing ability of the totalitarian States. The forces we are fighting are governed neither by the old strategy nor follow the old tactics.

I'm noticing a pattern - whenever you reply to a post of mine, you're completely ignoring context (Like, say, the post I replied to), and for that matter, you don't even read my post - you know, the one you're supposedly replying to -, you just randomly use me as a target to bitch at Germans. Or German football. Or something vaguely related to Germany.

Looks like England fans aren't just worst fans, they're apparently by far the least literate fans, too.
