This Euro is going to be fun with all the traditional powers in a bit of a rut. I'm hoping someone like Ireland sneaks away with the title, but my money is on the Dutchies to rise to the occasion.

WC 47, 51 (2nd), WC 34, 38, 39, 41, 44, 45, 53, 60, 67, 92 (3rd), WC 49, 58, 87, 90 (Semifinalist), WC 33, 35-37, 46, 48, 54, 55, 62, 63, 65, 72, 83, 85, 86, 88, 91 (Quarterfinalist)
WCoH VII, VIII, XVII, XXVIII, XXX, XXXII (1st), WCoH I, XXXI, XL (2nd), WCoH II, XXIX (3rd), WCoH XII (4th)

Okay. With all the injuries and shit, I'm going to slightly revise my predictions from last december.

Group A
Poland 7 pts (First on goal difference)
Greece 7 pts
Russia 3 pts
Czech Republic 0 pts

Group B
Germany 9 pts
Netherlands 4 pts (Through on goal difference)
Denmark 4 pts
Portugal 0 pts

Group C
Spain 9 pts
Italy 4 pts
Ireland 2 pts
Croatia 1 pts

Group D
France 7 pts (First on goal difference)
Sweden 7 pts
England 1 pts
Ukraine 1 pts

Quarterfinals
Poland def. Netherlands (Chokers gonna choke)
Germany def. Greece
Spain def. Sweden (Penalties)
France def. Italy

Semifinals
Spain def. Poland
France def. Germany (Overtime)

Final
Spain def. France (Penalties)

A pity. I fucking hate the present French squad and wouldn't mind to see Sweden come far. Alas...

Actually, for that reason... The way I'd like to see the EC play out, regardless of how unrealistic it is:

Group A
Poland 9 pts
Greece 6 pts
Russia 1 pts
Czech Republic 1 pts

Group B
Germany 9 pts
Denmark 6 pts
Netherlands 3 pts (:D)
Portugal 0 pts

Group C
Italy 7 pts (First on goal difference)
Spain 7 pts
Ireland 1 pts
Croatia 1 pts

Group D
Sweden 9 pts
England 6 pts (Favouring England reaching the quarterfinal... I really don't like this group when I want England of all teams to get far)
France 3 pts
Ukraine 0 pts

Quarterfinals
Denmark def. Poland (Penalties)
Germany def. Greece
England def. Italy (Penalties) (Jesus fuck what's wrong with me :()
Sweden def. Spain

Semifinals
Denmark def. England (FINALLY!)
Germany def. Sweden (Penalties)

Final
Germany def. Denmark (Penalties) (REVENGEEEEEE FOR 1992!)

Oh, yeah. Kicking out two scandinavians in a row should be worth a SatW comic, too~

For Poland it's a group of death. Seriously. It would be still a group of death even if we had the national teams of Care Bears, Moomins and Teletubbies to play.

No its not. Poland would have less of a chance in any other group.

Winning it would go a bit far. But at these tournaments you just have to be really hard to beat. And of all the teams that are going to try playing like Chelsea (Ireland, Greece, England, maybe others) Ireland have been training the hardest for it, have the best coach for it and seem most likely to pull it off. So I think if Italy do have an off day (and I think they will), Ireland might just sneak out of their group.

By the way, I read something today suggesting that Spain's current likely setup (with Iniesta and Silva in front of Xavi) looks vulnerable to get into the same situation as their first game against Switzerland at the last World Cup. Because both 'wingers' try to go into the centre, they end up standing on each others' toes and can be defended against fairly effectively. Until Del Bosque gives up on Silva and replaces him with Pedro, or Navas, or some other proper wide player, that gives sides a decent chance to keep them out. It's like Barca, but without Messi.

PREDICT-O-MATIC!

Group A
The "Group of Life", home advantage might help the Poles. Then again, they are also the worst team in the group, so...

1 Czech Rep
2 Russia
3 Poland
4 Greece

Group B
Germany v Netherlands decides the group...and I've going for the "Tournament Team" to nudge it. Denmark will get third, mainly because the Portuguese are a shadow of their former selves.

1 Germany
2 Netherlands
3 Denmark
4 Portugal

Group C
Spain win the group, with carnage in their wake. I'm tipping Ireland to do the biz over Italy, simply because the Azzurri don't like it up 'em.

1 Spain
2 Rep Ireland
3 Italy
4 Croatia

Group D
If Hodgson pulls off escaping this group, the FA will be forgiven. Can't see it happening though.

1 Sweden
2 France
3 England
4 Ukraine

Quarter-Finals
Russia v Germany - German ruthlessness trumps Russian flair.
Spain v France - Au revoir and bon riddance.
Czech Rep v Netherlands - The Czechs' reward for a group win is being Oranje purée.
Sweden v Ireland - Suffocate Zlatan, and the Swedes will fall.

Semi-Finals
Spain v Germany - Ze Germans. On penalties.
Netherlands v Ireland - Dutch RAWRCRUSH.

THE FINAL
Netherlands v Germany - I'll go for the Dutch second time around.
