So of the four games you cite, of 360+ minutes of football, Carrick played 63 minutes and you seem to find him at fault for the results in all four games?

Over the past few years, i have rarely seen Carrick do anything actually useful with the ball.

we need 2 or 3 europeans with intl. pedigree and character that can step up for the big matches, particularly in europe, and not disappear in midfield. As I said Carrick is a good squad player, one of the best we have. I'd definitely keep him on my team sheet.

A bit embarrassed because of my MLS...

NEW YORK -- Dynamo midfielder Colin Clark has been suspended for three games by Major League Soccer and fined for directing a gay slur toward a ball boy during Houston's 2-0 loss at Seattle last week.

MLS commissioner Don Garber also ordered Clark to attend diversity and sensitivity training.

"Major League Soccer will not tolerate this type of behavior from its players or staff at any time, under any circumstances," Garber said.

The 27-year-old apologized on Twitter and said he will say he's sorry to the ball boy in person.

"I believe that he will learn from this incident," Garber said.

Clark is in his seventh MLS season, and second full season with the Dynamo.

"First of all, I want to apologize for what I did during the Seattle match. I had a chance to speak to the ball boy after the game," Clark said. "I'm sorry to everyone who I offended with that term. I intend to never use that word again in any context. There's absolutely no excuse for using that word.

"What I said doesn't represent me. It was out of character and out of line. I made a huge mistake by using those words, and I truly regret that."

I was hoping to see them go with about twelve games or so.

Using gay slurs is bad enough, but the kicker for me is that he directed it AGAINST A 13 YEAR OLD. Come on MLS, this punishment is a joke. I know you don't want to bee seen as too intrusive in a league that's only a bit over a decade old, but come on now, when it becomes clear that Houston wasn't going to punish him in-house it's really appropriate for the league to come down on him.

Oh well, good to know I can berate a 13 year old ball boy and only get a nice 3 game break. Good chance to rest the legs, innit?
