It really is. A young father, recently engaged, at his prime - I'm overjoyed to see that he's stabilized.

I just watched the footage of the ESPN broadcast from WHL on youtube. I won't post the link her, lest I run afoul of the prohibition on distressing/disturbing content, but it's amazing just how quickly everyone on the pitch and in the stands grasped how serious a situation it was.

I remember back in 2007 when Phil O'Donnell died during the match between Motherwell and Dundee - he had cardiac arrest of some sort and collapsed and was almost immediately taken away in an ambulance. That's something that sticks with me still - I can't imagine being in the grounds and seeing something like that happen.

Best of wishes to Muamba, though, and strength to his family, friends, and loved ones.

ugh..yeah that was not nice...on the plus side kudos to the fans on both sides...

really hope he's recovering well...Foe was bad as was O'Donnell...

shit - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17417973

he's critically ill....ten minutes trying to resuscitate him....am really hoping he's strong enough to pull through...

Looks like Sky changed their report, too. Scary stuff...

If anyone has a chance it's a pro football midfielder.

Fittest buggers in the world.

Foe, Feher, Jarque, O'Donnell, and Puerta all suffered similar events and died.

Our faith is with Muamba.

It's a great sight to see football fans working together. I had heard about the fans chanting, but had no idea how respectful they were to this event. From what I see on youtube, they all appeared very concerned about him.

my hopes for recovery certainly are...

@ fartsniffage - indeed...they are...but in cases like this even the mega healthy can...pass on. No idea what allows others to survive...strength of mind/spirit?

Am gonna crash now but am really hoping he'll pull through...

I'm trying to be optimistic.

The guy survived long enough to make it to hospital. He's got a good shot.

True. You can never be quite sure, though. I'll continue to have faith.

OK, I'm home again but a bit drunk.

I was sitting in Park Lane Lower i.e. Behind the goal to the left, quite near the Bolton fans. I was following the ball but the guy next to me saw him go down and start to fit. When I looked round Modrić was nearest to him and was starting to freak. They got a lot of medics on straight away so everyone could tell it was pretty serious. They were pumping his chest for a long time. It got pretty weird. The players reactions didn't look good. The Bolton fans started chanting his name and the Spurs fans joined in. (personally, I couldn't see whose benefit it was for as at the very least he was unconscious. I think some people started to cheer when they saw him move but I think that was a reaction to being defibrillated.

When they took him off after what seemed like at least 10 minutes they were still pumping his chest. We all thought he was a gonner. It now seems he's still alive. If they've managed to save him then it's great work by all the medical staff. But he was out for a long time.

When the game was called off nobody was surprised but they wouldn't have done that if he had come round. I left straight away and saw an ambulance heading south down the High St (away from North Middlesex Hospital). I've read he's been taken to London Chest Hospital which would make sense. I doesn't look good though. It didn't look like he was breathing or his heart was beating for a long time.

Damn that must have been weird as fuck....the chanting was pretty awesome...the crowd showing its support and hope that the lad was ok...a natural thing to do if there is not much else one can do...my 2p worth anyway.

Latest is that the next 24 hours are critical for the lad...

It seems that serious, serious injury he got in the 2002 World Cup thankfully hasn't affected the longevity of his playing career.

That's probably why he's in Angola - not enough televisions there in 2002 for people to remember that stunt.

North Korea won the AFC challenge cup. Me = happy. Their status as the unofficial world football champions remains. They currently have a 5 win streak.

Turkmenistan were robbed. It would have been great if they'd beaten Korea DPR, but, they were huge underdogs. I don't see how Korea DPR are even eligible to play in the Challenge Cup, they're like 15th in Asia.
