Ahem, logically my religion doesn't make sense, i'll give you that. But there are many more factors in my life which (Quite apparently) I hold over logic.
There aren't tools to measure spiritual interference, therefore, maybe God (Or something else) controls us through processess that still abide by scientific law, because they created that law in the beginning. This may sound like babbling to you, but I will consent that there is absolutely NO way to know even in the slightest if there is a God, or aliens, or nothing at all. I just choose to put all of my eggs in one basket because I was raised around it. Maybe the Islamic folks are right, maybe the Jews are, hell maybe it's the atheists who are right. To me that doesn't matter. I'm sure Allah would damn me to hell, God may punish me if his son never existed, and I may just cease to exist forever upon death...but I can't help but think Maybe they won't, maybe there is more.
Where you have doubt, I have faith, where you have science, I have the Bible, where you have only death, I have hope for something better than this.
Oh, and this is late, but Moral:I hate overly organized religion too, this is why I have more of a relationship with God than religion. Small to medium sized churches are fine in my book, but things like the Vatican and huge churches with more than 1,000 or so members strike me as corrupt.
Don't worry, this post of yours is totally fine. Yes, although the mathematical probability is effectively zero, it is not exactly zero that God exists. I accept that it is possible that He actually does, in whichever version (the Hindu/Jewish/Christian/Pagan/Viking/Greek/some other version we have not thought of yet) that He does. It is possible that if He exists, He is giving you and I free will to think, or alternatively He may be planting ignostic thoughts in my head and Christian thoughts in yours. If He exists, He be telling the truth through the Bible, or the Koran, or He may be deceiving us all and lying to us all this time. We may never know.
You analogy of putting all your eggs in one basket is really good. In my case, using your analogy, I choose to put my eggs in the baskets of this current life, that I know are certain and/or near-certain to exist, rather than in the baskets of the afterlife or of reincarnation, such as the Hindu or Muslim or Christian basket, which have effectively zero probabilities of existing. I invest solely in the friends, family and work that I have now in the current world, for the good of the current world, for I am near-certain that it exists. If reincarnation exists and I am reincarnated, I will invest solely in those things that I know are near-certain to exist, which are those things that are relevant to me in that next world.
